Chet, As Cal Girl said, Most of the pic is the reflection of the rocks and foliage on the creek's surface.

This shot was taken the same day. There is literally over a mile of flowering bluebells along the Little Seneca Creek in April ..

The fork in the creek just north of Rt 28 used to be our swimmin' hole. We washed our cars in the creek at Schaeffer Rd. I knew the area well.

I grew up going to "the big lake" (Lake Michigan) for day, weekend, or week-long trips. The eastern shore of Lake Michigan is beautiful and the sunsets are amazing.

We go to a camp in Saugatuck every summer. I've been going there since I was a kid, and it has barely changed. Very rustic, remote and lovely. No phones, TVs, or computers. Ahhh. Here are some shots of the camp’s beach:


The New Buffalo area is an easy drive from Chicago and very popular for day or weekend trips. We spent Saturday on a friend's boat up there; this shot shows a bit of the lovely shoreline and dunes.


People who haven't visited the Great Lakes are often amazed at how big they really are. I've had visitors from Europe who are blown away that what they're looking at is a fresh water lake, and some have said "I thought I could see the other side!" So here's my plug for the Midwest: If you haven't visited the Great Lakes, come on by! They're wonderful.

Chicagoans- I couldn't agree with you more! As a child, I spent at least one extended weekend during the summer in Grand Haven, Michigan with my family. I remember the first time I saw the lake, and being a child, I just couldn't rap my mind around the fact that it wasn't the ocean! I remember the World's Largest Musical Fountain and the boardwalk. It is among the best vacation memories that I have!

Lex, we're on the same wavelength! We go to Avalon every year (since I was an infant, many, many years ago!), and my hubby has cousins who live in Orleans, Mass.

We have definitely had a water theme this summer, and we've been on probably too many long weekend vacations, but we've loved them all.

I spent last weekend on the river again, and as we were cruising down river to get fuel, we were lucky to catch this boat taking off for a week long voyage. Once it got turned around and headed in the right direction, the ships calliope (steam organ) began playing music. It was really cool!

I'm sorry that I'm so far away from all the nice places showed in this topic. I hope to see some of them some day. I think I have seen the beautiful pictures from Teddy Salas before, showing the different seasons?

Linne, you have a very good memory.

The day before (were we looking for punishment?), we visited "the amusement park time forgot." I suspect the owner built most of the rides and attractions himself over the past 50 years.

We were so burned out by Labor Day, we watched beer tv all day.

On Labor Day we headed to the Bronx to tour the current Stadium one last time. I had done this tour before but figured in the final year, why not. This time we were allowed to go in the Clubhouse and that was pretty exciting for me. You can't just roam around in there and no photos but it was cool to get a glimpse around.

The new place is coming along and looks great. It was sad and exciting all at the same time. And judging by how things are going this year I may just check out until Spring Training
