First off, I HATE my name  BUT, I've had it for a long time, and it's just easier to keep it.

Many years ago - when I got my first Power Mac, I was soooo excited that I had a new speeeeeedy POWerMAC (after having an 80 mghz mac II si)- that I created my AOL screenname to reflect my new computer LPOWMAC (Lisa's Power Mac) - Can anyone say: CORNY?... Then I left AOL for a while and when I came back to it, wanted the name again (for ease of use) but I could not get it - so I just added the BACK to it (since I was BACK to AOL)...Anyway, that was a lifetime ago - when I was "into" that kind of thing - now, it seems so STUPID - but I keep it because it would be a pain in the neck to change to something classier

Does anyone really care? What's in a name, anyhow?

Fun Stories!!!
And we haven't even heard from taminark/wontontammy yet.
I hate my screen name now. It's really boring and I want to change it. I didn't know you could change your name, but taminark did, and she didn't fall off the edge of the virgin-islands-on-line.com earth or anything.
This is a kind of busy time of the year for me, but I'm going to be thinking about a new name.

JaySeaDee is my initials JCD - I also thought it would be a good name for my yacht some day.

Great topic Sea-Nile! As you know my name is really Beth, Betty is a name I got in college by this cute Australian student, I guess in Aussie all young gals are Betty's, when my husband found out it was my college nickname, he felt it fit me and has called me Betty ever since then. Everyone else in the world calls me Beth! :D

I'm a KC fan, especially his songs from an old blue chair album, love the Be As You Are song in particular, love St. John and love the message in those 4 little words:

I wanna go where I can lighten up the load
Drive a little while on the wrong side of the road
Get this laying low off to a flying start
Play my guitar in the Caribbean sun
Hang with the locals at the Quiet Mon
Where you can be a tourist, a beach bum, or a star
And be as you are.

Mia - I, too, am so sorry for your loss.

This forum name came up about because I was the first "Noreen" to request it, lol. My other names have all been a variation on "Ivoryrabbit." I was signing up for AOL years ago, back when the number of characters you could choose was limited. With growing frustration (everything I could think to try was already in use), I noticed a photo on top of my pc, in which I was wearing an ivory rabbit pendant. (Pic and rabbit both from Key West, so it fits!)

Anyway, that was the first rabbit forum name, "Ivoryrab." No one knew what it meant.

And that's not quite what you all asked, but I thought it was more interesting than just the one where I used my name, lol.

Thanks everyone for your great stories! I have really enjoyed this and I was so hesitant to start it.

First of all,
Mia- I am also so sorry for your loss. Using that name is great though so you can keep her memory with you.

MrsCARolph:
I was really curious about your name. It's too bad we won't be on STJ at the same time. You could talk with my husband the "car nut".

obsessedmuch:
NEVER too obsessed! :)

Jorge:
I always thought that you were HOR-HEY (I work with a lot of Hispanic families)
Now I know it is George. HOR is even more fun.

OK - when as a young adult I first started playing soccer - check that - when I was first a member of a soccer team, we used to go over to Tampa to watch the Rowdies play, and they had a big defender named Arsene Auguste (Augie) who's forte seemed to be booting the ball a long way out of the back when under pressure.

Since I had zero ball skills, that's about all I was good for as well, and my best friend, who was also on the team started calling me "Augie Big Foot".

The Augie part stuck. I played in our local league for almost 20 years, and still ocassionally play 6-a-side in the "old farts" division, and I'm probably still called "augie" more often than "Steve" out on the fields.

On message boards where the username augie is taken I usually add my college affiliation to become "augiegator".

Mia, can you believe I have never known anyone with my same birth date? I'm glad to know Melissa and I share the same day.
I was born in 1966 so I'm a little bit her senior.
I'm glad you can think of her each time you come here - and I'm sure countless other times.
I will think of her on our birthday.

Hey Mary Beth!
You were born just 2 days after me! Happy 4-OH!!!
Guess where I spent my b-day? That's right! Sippin' Pain Killers on White Bay @ JVD!! I spent your b-day at Zozo's watching the sunset!
By the way, my forum name came from my hubby traveling to Japan and everyone calling him Mr.Kyle-san. I became Ms. Colleen (san) and added my last initial in the middle for my screen name!
MsGColleen

4 months & counting till STJ!! Cheers!

B-as-U-R I was wondering about that. Every time I hear that song I think of you! I love that CD!
