Thanks for the explanation, Chigagoans. I know what you mean, we nearly always have such a room in our houses. But when I took the Danish word for this room, which is "bryggers" the dictionary said that
the English word is "utility room" or "scullery".
I tried with "mudroom", but the word wasn't in the dictionary, so that's why I was a little confused.

We got the old tiles cut and re-installed this weekend...it was a bit rough....wife and I had some....er...discussions...made it through though...Yay.

Now we need to color match ten year old grout and grout the tiles....that will be "fun" for sure.... We bought two different grout colors and are mixing and letting them dry to try to match the old stuff...this is an "art" not "science"....

okay, good to know

Sherban, I forgot to tell that it was a little funny for me to see the picture where you had to bowls laying beside your sink. I'm sure I have exactly the same two. One in a sort of bamboo and one in brown earthenware?

Ok, now I can say that our countertop replacement project is done, complete, finished. Big SIGH of relief.....whewww...

We got lucky with our grout matching efforts..well a little bit of research, hard work and some luck too...we had to match 10 year old grout....ended up with a ~ 60/40 mix of a pure white and a biscuit shade...whew the "remodelling gods" cut us some slack this time...here was our pallet/experiment (you gotta match dry grout because it lightens when it dries)

We completed the caulking yesterday.....all done now-

That's all folks....it's someone else's turn now!
