Another chicken tip from a friend:

"Another method is to put a few grains of corn in a cone shaped Dixie Cup and bury
the cup so it is flush with the ground in loose soil and then paint some rubber
cement around the inside rim of the cup. When the chicken puts her head down into
the cup to eat the corn the cup will stick to its head. And you will have cone
headed chickens hopping around your yard. They are easy to catch because they can't see you coming."

This could work!

Would the cup cover their beak? If so, the SPCA would have a field day with that one..Suppose they leave your yard and die of starvation...Just putting that out there...

I would suspect you'd need the chicken to hold still for 7-10 minutes while the cement set.

Let's say it works, now you're chasing a chicken that can't see and it likely quite pissed off.

We're gonna need all of this on film when the hunt begins.

Ruth,
I think if you're going to glue cups on to their heads you should first hot glue little tassels to the top. This way they'll look like Shriners!
I have a visual of some poor rooster wandering around Cruz Bay with a cup on his head trying to get lucky and the hens will have nothing to do with him...But then again...there's the population control.... So we may be on to something....

Ruth,

I'm a little worried about traveling with a CO2 BB gun that pretty much resembles a real handgun. I'm wondering if they'll even let me on the plane with it. TSA might make me explain and I wonder what they'll think when I tell them I taking it on vacation to removes Ruth's chickens

What if I mail it ahead? Will the USPS find it and think it's a real gun and send the rath of God down on me?

Ah heck, it's not the first time I'm going to try to smuggle contraband

XOXO

Bug it has to go into your checked luggage That luggage has to be locked and you have to tell them you have it they will put a piece of paper saying it is unloaded in with it. I fly all the time with weapons not a big deal

I just had another visual of Ruth and Bug sitting in Ruth's backyard with the BB gun, wearing Elmer Fudd hats and saying, "Be vewy quiet, we're hunting chickens..." :)

Sometimes it's a little difficult to explain others why I'm still using time on this forum. But now I can tell that I for example learn a lot about how to catch chickens in different ways! Very useful knowledge :D :D :D

OK, I got the solution. The heck with the BB gun. I think we need something bigger - actually smaller. All we have to do is to throw a small granade in your back yard...chickens will be gone and we already dug out your new inground pool  You do want a pool don't you????
