Excellent post Gina, couldnt agree more and have said as much where I usually do my politicing (a motorcycle forum no less  )

If more people took a sober look at all the issues and the context of the current time they were addressed, they'd feel the same.

But people are scared to think for themselves, it's easier to repeat verbatim what someone else says.

Michael Moore, Keith Oberman.. Talking pretty does not make you right, just a partisan crybaby.

As for Obama's speech, I thought it was excellent, thought it was funny so many on the left didnt particulary care for it.

Could it be because there is no reason for hallow rhetoric now that the election is over?

Now, I'm done with politics here!

Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hanity, Ann Coulter, Bill Bennett, Bill O'reiley, Glen Beck...Talking ugly makes you right.....right wing wacky.

The ideas of left and right are a thing of the past. The old ideas of right AND left are like the turkey in the Sara Palin video...too stupid to know they are dead, so they just keep thrashing about. The time of America and a united planet are now. Get on the bandwagon. My hand is out to catch you. Come with us. Glorify in it.

Wow. Sorry I missed that Palin video, I'm sure it was a real hoot!

As for your "united planet" thoughts...Look B, you are clearly one of the real insightful people on this board, that goes without saying. So I value your thoughts on a few things:

1. Should there be, in your united world, a single currency?

2. Since under President Barack Obama the world is going to be a "United Planet", should we and every other nation on Earth be required to dismantle our defense arsenal? With the Evil USA leading the way, of course?

3. Should we also, in your "United Planet" move in the direction of one language?

4. And of course, in the words of Mr. Lennon...should we have no religion, too?

5. Finally, once all of these particulars are out of the way (minor details and centuries old customs), should at that point Barack Hussein Obama then ascend to King and Grand Ruler of this new, "United Earth"?

Might want to hedge your enthusiasm though...In a poll taken of Europeans' attitudes towards Afghanistan, respondents were asked:

If new US President Barack Obama were to ask for further support for your government in terms of additional troop deployment to Afghanistan, would you support the request?

The overwhelming answer was..."No".

And all this time the media has been telling me that Afghanistan was the "right" war. Huh.

Off to a good start with the "world".

B – you gotta give Sox a break. He might be all fired up from listening to Rush Limbaugh today, who is really foaming at the mouth. Rush is really gonna need some narcotics, more food, or make another Viagra powered trip to the infamous red light district of the Dominican, or else he’s gonna pop a vessel or something. And wouldn’t that be sad?

Crack is smoked from a glass pipe, or tin foil. Tobacco, weed, or hashish are smoked from a hookah. If you want to insinuate I am using drugs, at least get it right.

And to be clear, while I don't agree with your politics, you make salient and original points that make me think. You don't regurgitate right wing talking points. I like that about you SJ. Don't ever change.

Clearly a divided planet is WAY more in our best interest.

For reference some Soxfan quotes I've compiled along the way. You claim lofty goals but clearly never listen to anyone but yourself or those who agree with you 100%. You pick fights with EVERYONE, not just me or the other libs here. Even those trying to make some peace are open game.

There are others here on the more conservative or even extremely conservative side who are far less abrasive and actually make sensible arguments that I can follow, vs. just changing the subject. I have yet to hear one stand up and agree to your comments likening Obama to Hitler or your use of thinly veiled ethnic slurs.

Anyway, enjoy some of your finer moments. I have compiled just a few of them here. Usually I wouldn't waste my time, but really I think they are worth noting or is it worth nothing. I'll let others be the judge.

These are undoctored...direct quotes from posts here on the forum. I didn't get a running tally but at least 4 direct or indirect references to Obama being Hitler-like.

Soxfan says:

1. "You guys supporting Obama are akin to the Jews on the trains headed to Auschwitz. You think everything will be okay...You think you're "just going away for a bit"...You think you'll be going home soon...You think your house will still be there when you get there...All of this despite the obvious intentions of the leader leading you down the primrose path. There, I said it. A bunch of sheep, led by Keith Olbermann."

2. In reference to children singing to Obama, "Oh wait, those kids singing in that Youtube video today...They were singing to the Furor, weren't they. Looked like a bunch of zombies."

3. To me: "Who are you, oprah?"

4. This was my personal fave: "I will not vote for Barack Obama because he is left of Lenin. Not because he is black. First off, the man is not black - his mother was white and his father was Kenyan. To me, that is Milano."

5. "He (Obama) walks in lockstep with domestic terrorists, communists, anarchists, and he supports infanticide."

6. "I think they're all sheep (Obama voters) - leading our entire "herd" to slaughter in the name of "fairness"."

7. "You won't believe this, but I posted something on my Facebook tonight about Obama, and before it allowed me to post, the box popped up that asked me to type in the two words it is displaying...The second word was "Fuehrer" - no joke...even I couldn't make that up. I had to look twice."

8. "Keith Olbermann is a communist."

9. "Did you hear Obama say on Wednesday that he will put together a civilian national security force that is just as well funded as our military? Why? Because according to him, we cannot continue to "count" on our military to achieve our national security needs. What the hell does THAT mean? Take look (and pay special attention to the lemmings in the background..."Oh yes, great one" What is a civilian force? Hitler had one of those too."
(The lemmings by the way were veterans!)

Funny - that's how I describe my political leanings, too! Never found a candidate that's a perfect fit (I'm sure I'm not alone there.)

In summing up why people from both sides of the political aisle should support President Obama, I really liked McCain's words at Monday night's dinner: "For his success will be our success."

Thank you Linne for your kind words. These are exciting times, but troubling too and our new President faces many challenges.

Thanks, nobody force feeds me anything. My processor is still able to figure thing out for itself. You actually remind me a lot of my Philly friends. We would probably do OK sitting at the BB knocking back a few cold ones and reminiscing about the 1981 Super Bowl. Just don't call me an ahole or DB or I'll break out my autographed picture of Jim Plunkett!
Cool...I'll bring the Scott Stevens tooth I got from the Spectrum one night. ;)
