Well, I now have a use to the cucumbers in my CSA basket! I had a cucumber cocktail in Philly last summer that was absolutely the best alcoholic drink I ever consumed.

This recipe was in one of the airline USVI tourism magazines. It happens to be very good, but I'd suggest 2 max if you want to remain vertical.
Virgin Islands Ice Tea
1 part Cruzan Dark Rum
 1 part Cruzan Coconut Rum
 1 part Cruzan Pineapple Rum
 1 part Cruzan Guava Rum
 1 part Cruzan Mango Rum
 1/2 part sour mix
 Splash of cola

Anybody familiar with St. Germain liqueur? The source, taste description and various ways used sounds very intriguing re the various cocktails that can be made with it and splashing it into white or sparkling wine.

I am interested in this too! I bought a bottle as part of my duty free allotment when we were at the STT airport in July but I have not unpacked the box since we are moving next month. I had a really good drink at Asolare with St. Germaine, wine and some other stuff which is what prompted me to buy it.

Well then, I think it is safe to say that you have your marching orders for the weekend (is it too much to ask for photos too?

), especially since I think I saw something when I was looking it up that STG is a somewhat perishable liqueur to be consumed within 6 months (don't recall if from purchase or from opening).
So, sneak out of work early tomorrow so you can get cracking on that! Inquiring VIOL minds need to know!
(at least I do before I plunk down >$30 on a bottle...)

Loooove St. Germain! My favorite is an elderflower martini: 1 part each gin, elderflower and dry vermouth or dry white wine ( I use Sauvignon Blanc ) and 1/2 part lime juice. First time I had it was at Buddakan and they floated an edible orchid on top. I had another recipe from coastal living with it called Royal Orchid from February 2012. I will look on their website and if it isn't there, I will post it.
Here's a good one - Raspberry Thyme Smash from Bon Appetit, July 2008!

Hubs was the St Germaine broker here until they sold. My fav is very simple-
 1.5 oz St-Germain
2 oz Dry white wine or Champagne
Club soda
Drop a pretty raspberry in for fun!
Did these 5 years ago at my daughters bridal shower. Had to call hubs to bring more champagne ..it was a hit!
They have very cute little glass carafes that have the measurements right on it for this drink. Also big versions. Maybe if you ask your local store and the rep you can get one.
I love the product, so sad I will have to buy it now.

I have not posted in this thread for a long time. Here is a recent cocktail. For each drink, use one ounce aged rum, the juice of one blood orange, and one tablespoon simple syrup that has been infused with ginger. Shake over ice until very cold, add in a splash of sparking water, and serve over ice.

Ha! Those glasses were a "gift" from the people we bought our new home from. We found out after moving in that they left an entire dishwasher of dirty dishes behind. We threw everything out but these glasses.
