Thanks so much Hugo for your research and sharing this info.
I certainly hope that the Park Service contineus to evaluate these situations and come up with sound policies for all.

If you go to
www.wunderground.com - enter 00801 zip code -click on the radar image -use your cursor to make a blue box around STJ and east - let it load the micro radar view - and press animate map --- you can watch the rain roll in -- real time.
I use it all the time to track squalls or choose a beach.

Hey, I have a question (probably should know the answer but don't), can conch move to different shells and take up residence in them like hermit crabs? If so, would putting them back in the water be a possiblity?

Nope, the conch are attached, can't come out without getting killed.
I'll tell you about the plight of the land hermit crabs (we call them soldier crabs here) and their lack of whelk shells some other time....
