Being in Wisconsin, I'm surprised he's not "Nitschke"

I knew I didn't like you Pete. TOO cute. I want one. My baby puppy girl is only 5 weeks old so I have at least 3 weeks to talk myself OUT of it.
I haven't mentioned it to the human girl child because then it would be all over.

I grew up in Chicago and am living in hostile Packer territory. Butkus, not Nitscke...the former was a great linebacker the other guy was just pretty good. Pretty good ain't good enough for our pup.

And this is a really bad picture of him. He looks so sad. He is SO not sad. He's a very active and happy little guy with a huge personality.
He has certainly changed the dynamics of this household of 6. Now 7. Phew!
Nothing like being a new mother. This time it's a little easier without the postpartum depression though.
The funniest thing is that we find ourselves talking about his bodily functions. All the time. Just like a baby. For example:
"Did he poop?"
"Yes."
"How much?"
"A lot, but kind of wet."
"Oh, do you think he's okay?"
"I'm sure he's fine, it's probably the junk he licked off the street tonight on our last walk."
"Okay, good-night."
OMG, we are talking about puppy poop, at 3 AM. How our lives have changed. And, we really want to get out tomorrow night for a "date." I'm 47 years old and I am trying to find a sitter for my dog so I can have a hot date with my husband.

I had a temperamental Birman cat named Duffy who passed away in Nov. 2006 a couple of weeks before I made my third return trip to STJ, but we named him long before I started coming to STJ, he was 15 at the time, weird, huh? He was the best pet I'd ever had.

Some of you may remember this. I planned on naming my puppy an island name. I considered Jumbie, Duffy, Woody, .... but I gave in to my boys and I've got a "Jeter".

Pete and Marcia -
Puppies !!*&!^%!$!#@!!
As mentioned in my OT TR posted after our return from our June trip to the BVIs, our 9 yr old Sheltie Sandy passed suddenly after we returned. It was devastating. A month or so later we officially became one of those seemingly impetuous people who run out right away and get another dog even though we had misgivings that we might not be emotionally “ready” to do so. I got some helpful support through this from some of the nice folks here.
We got another Sheltie and his name is Vinnie (I think we were riffing off the fact the all the pups in the litter had temporary Rat Pack names – Frank, Dean, Sammie, etc.) We tried to pick one that seemed kinda mellow but not fearful, because Sandy was the mellowest Sheltie ever, he housebroke in 2 days, and you could take him anywhere.
Well, it has been an adventure. Vinnie is very sweet, but quite the hand full. Either we forgot how much work a puppy is or Sandy was an old soul from the start (probably some of both). Vinnie does puppy stuff (right in front of us!) that Sandy would never even THINK of doing – jumping up on furniture, unrolling and eating the toilet paper, etc. etc. I swear he is part Lab - he will also play fetch forever.
I cant help thinking sometimes that he is lucky that he is so cute - its hard to yell NO! when you are also laughing (like Sandy is up in heaven!)

jmq, congratulations on your new addition. He's a cutie. We almost bought a sheltie when our TAD was 3, but chose a weimaraner instead. I still think they're beautiful dogs and have read they're quite intelligent. Hang in there. You'll all survive the puppy stage.

Flip Flop, my yellow-haired tabby is named Butter, too.
It really is Butterscotch, but that quickly got dropped to just Butter.

My yellow lab is really Buttercup ... but we've never called her that.

My cat is named Duster, not am island name but he is the son of Shipwreck's cat Buster. He and 3 siblings were born in the back room of the restaurant. As soon as they were old enough to leave Buster, two were adopted by some kind St Thomas customers and the other 2 came home with us. The minute he was let out of his transport, he ran behind the fridge and came out, well, hate to admit it but a bit dusty. And yes Buster was spayed right away so there have not been any more kittens around.
Of course if the VI Health Dept is reading this, I totally disavow all of the above!
