I don't think that slots and video games have much cachet among gamblers. Maybe a notch above scratch tickets. They seemed a good fit for Cap's, but I'm not too sure about a classy, sophisticated, upscale slot "parlor". I don't think this is going to last. Looks like the drinks will be expensive. I'd put it in the category of the failed martini bar. It's a tough time for businesses on STJ. Some things just aren't a good fit for STJ and any taxi driver probably could have told them that. What's the highest end that can work there? This seems like it might be aimed at the folks staying at Sirenusa or Grand Bay. But then they haven't arrived quite yet, have they?
In the spirit of the establishment, I'm willing to bet that it doesn't last much more than a year.
And what's going on with the Mixology space's strip club? That created quite a stir.
I've always liked stopping in Mooie's. Maybe Cruz Bay needs more places like that. I'd go.

I'm going to go in when I'm there in 9 days. If nothing else, just to poke my head in and enjoy some A/C.
We're $5 for the week slot machine players. While in the DR a few months ago, I delighted my wife by passing her a fiver and sending her off to play nickle slots while I wrangled our daughter.
What does it hurt? From the 2 pictures I have seen, I don't think this place is going to really even be able to be a "real" casino. If it works, it works...good for the owners. If it doesn't, maybe I'll open a bar in the space.
I'm not a big believer in doing things that I don't like. If I don't like the place, I won't go to it.
Just my $.02

I'm in agreement with pipanale. When the convo gets boring, or the bugs are nipping my legs at the bar, I''ll head over with $5 and play some blackjack.
3 yrs ago, I did that in the Wyndam, and walked away with drink money for Mrs B and I for the next day.
2 yrs ago, I did the same, at Caps, and got enough for our ferry ride, and cab to the airport.
I was too drunk last year to do any of it

I'm with you, Gromit. I hate seeing it there and don't plan to visit the establishment. Interesting comment on whether it will survive as a business. The one time we walked into Captain's Corner to see what it was, there was no one in there in the afternoon.

I checked it out last night. In short, it looked like a super upscale Cap's to me, patrons and all.
