Oh my God Vicki - I laughed my a$$ off so many times while reading your report - the donkey story was HILARIOUS!!!
Your pics are AWESOME!!! Where is the shark pic?
Bull sharks are the ones that have been attacking people in the Gulf Coast in recent years (mainly the Florida panhandle). I hope I NEVER see one of them!
It's awesome that you get that time alone and appreciate it as fully as you do!
So glad you and Obsessed hung out some!
Thanks again for such an enjoyable read...not only are you an excellent photographer, but you are a great writer as well - made me feel like I was there with ya'!

Hello Vicki!
I’m almost new here on the board and have also enjoyed your trip report and fantastic pictures. But I have a question. In one of your pictures I can see some legs in the water with shoes on. Why shoes? Is it necessary to wear shoes on the beaches, and when you are snorkelling??

Hi Linne
Some people like to wear booties inside their flippers

Great report! Your photos are absolutely gorgeous! I love your donkey and shark stories although I don't think I would have been nearly as brave as to go check that shark out. So glad you had such a great time. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you watergauy - I was not aware that the "shoes"
were to be used inside the flippers - never used it myself and never seen this model before.

Great report! I read it again but this time more slowly...love your humor and writing style. The guy lying face down in the sand reminded me of the recent Jorge photo.
You could be a writer and/or photographer if you ever decide to quit your dayjob.

Vicki -
I LOVED your report! I found myself laughing out loud several times as others have mentioned. The photos in the report are awesome - beautiful eye and beautiful colors. Thanks for taking the time to indulge us all. Now I'm off to the other 200 or so photos....!
Thanks -
Tracy

Awesome report - I'm glad now that our trip isn't for several months - otherwise I'd be too intimidated to write a trip report of my own!
Glad that the things you worried about due to being solo for a time weren't a problem.
Did the cat feel put out when everyone else crashed your party?

Vicki, Your report is wonderful. Love the drunk shopping. Our group ended up with a lot of hats! Your pictures are incredible! Thank you so much for sharing!

Vicki:
Your pics are soooo awesome and your report is great.
1) We always pick up hitchhikers on Island. We have made may friends with locals by giving them a ride. I figure when my time comes to live on Island, I hope people give me a ride too. (Lord knows I would never make it up those hills on foot!)
2) I actually have video of those darn Maho chickens. They did the same thing to us...running right across our feet. Did they crow to you?? My 4 year old makes me play the video over and over but it's so great cuz you hear the waves crashing on the beach and the chickens crowing.
3) Your jackA$$ story made me laugh so darn hard. I can picture it better than you know as I was chased by bees in STJ. All these years later, I still laugh at the though of myself running around the street being chased by a swarm of bees. I think that these crazy things only can happen in STJ!!
Thanks for sharing your stories and pics. I'm glad your "me" was exactly what you neeeded.
XOXO

Again, you take beautiful pictures! I especially like the plants. When decorating my husband’s office, I did a wall of vegetation pictures I took on St. John.
Going solo for a few days sounds absolutely decadent! I would love to do just what you did, go done ahead of everyone. Our young son prevents that from happening in the next few years but I can dream about it until then.
Overall, what was your opinion of Sunnyledge?

Well, it took me awhile to get through your report and see all the pictures, but it was great. Your pictures are great and you have a nice style of writing. Your report/pictures surely helped me get over the sadness of our canceled trip. Thank you so much for sharing your trip with us.
Hopefully one day our paths will cross on STJ. My dilemma will be – if I see a single woman on the beach – do I go and say “Hello” or do I stay away because “girls alone sometimes just want to be alone”. I’ll risk a polite hello.
Thanks again - FlaGeorge

You guys are all so great. You sure make a gal feel appreciated.
Linne - that was my uncle in his diving boots. He wears them with his fins.
Augie - the cat was darn happy when the others showed up. Like I said, I'm not a cat person, so while I SPOKE to the cat, I didn't TOUCH the cat. There were cat people in the house once everyone else arrived.
Kellee - maybe we could get my drunken purchase t-shirts and your drunken purchase hats and if we could find one more person who buys a bunch of drunk pants, we could put together some drunk outfits.
Bug - when (not "if") I see you hitchiking on STJ in your dreads, I'll pick you up!
PAGirl - Sunnyledge is the best villa we've stayed in. This was our 3rd trip there. The villa is simply perfect, the location even more perfect, and the owners are more like friends than people you rent from. I will probably never stay anywhere else.
George - say "Hello," just don't ask her to look at your "little fish."

VickiH,
Thanks so much for the fabulous report and photos. I went to add the photos link to my "favorites" and there already was one from the last time. I love your photos!
And thanks again for the Birthday Card, it was greatly appreciated. See you next time.
