Definitely look into trip insurance. As long as you did not make your final payment on the condo – you’re covered. A number of years ago, we had a trip planed and right before we had to make our final payment – my wife was diagnosed with cancer. I call the trip insurance company and they said that as long as I didn’t make the final payment – I could get trip insurance and would be covered. I gave the agent my credit card number right then and there
.
When I filed the claim, we got back about 90% if our expenses and the check was cut very quickly. Paying for trip insurance far outweighs the loss of airfare and accommodations.

Be careful when you purchase trip insurance a lot of them have a pre existing condition clause and you have to purchase within 2 weeks of initial deposit to be covered.
