when you start talking about taking a vacation and going somewhere new...and you just cant stop thinking about going to STJ again...

when you think a beach is crowded if there is more than 4 other people there...

when you keep an excel spreadsheet updated with villa choices, check Kayak weekly and constantly update your spouse on "specials"...

when 90% of your computer book marks are STJ related...

when your friends want to go on a cruise...and you think "why???"

And I used to go to New Jersey!

If you buy a Vitamix blender for your STJ house but are using an Oster blender from Target at home, you might get St. John.

If you shop with credit cards and justify it because you are accumulating "miles",you might get St, John.

If you notice that the calendar clearly has 3 weeks until STJ, but you only count it as 2 weeks since, in all actuality, you LEAVE for STJ that last week so it really doesn't count, and you are too stoked to think otherwise since paradise is most definitely soon come now, then you get St. John. (Do y'all get this? I tried to explain this theory to my husband last night, and he just said, "Whatever makes you happy...." which I'm assuming means he has no idea what I'm talking about. Note: He does get STJ, though. Maybe he just doesn't get me. )

If you usually eat semi-healthy, well balanced meals at home, but on STJ, consider an entire bag of Doritos, leftover key lime pie, and beer at 2pm at [insert beach here] "a really good lunch."

When you wear lip gloss and are asked "is it a special occassion because you are wearing make-up" you might get St John :)

When find yourself not "flushing" every time once you are home or in my case visiting friends in the States (have to be very aware of this "problem") and still taking a 2 minutes shower even though you are not on a cistern you might get St John :)

I love, love, LOVE this thread and I agree with all :)

54b - I totally cracked up at 1z :D Took my husband 2 nights at the villa to break on open.

If your not the least bit upset that a group trip to Ireland got cancelled because that meant a last minute trip to St John for 2 can happen, you might get St John.

This is great :D

If you've ever been driving at home on the right side of the road, and suddenly startled and veered toward the left, you might just "get" St. John.
What an awesome thread!

When you find it hard to believe that someone doesn't get it?

You might 'get' St. John if...

...you love the smell of jet fuel mixed with tropical air as you step onto the tarmac, because it means you're back!

...you can shop for an entire list of groceries in your mind at Starfish Market because you know exactly where everything is.

...you have elaborate methods of keeping sand out of your rental car.

...you decide that sunset at the beach is worth the no-see-um bites, then swear you'll never do that again. Then you do it again a few days later.

...getting on the same ferry boat can trigger feelings of either elation or dejection, depending on which way it's headed.

...you'd gladly trade dinner at a 5-star restaurant for a sandy tuna fish sandwich and chips under a tree at Francis Bay.

...you can watch bananaquits fight over sugar on a plate for hours.

...you're willing to wear sandals to the airport in January so you won't have to deal with lugging around shoes on vacation.

...upon arrival to STT, you glance with pity at the poor souls waiting to board their departing flights behind the plate glass windows, trying desperately to forget that you'll be one of them in just a few short days....

[*]If you can easily fit your entire wardrobe into a back pack, and feel that you still took too many cloths. 8)

[*]If you do a checked bag just to take sunscreen, beach and water gear, and specific non-perishable foods.

[*]If you feel really excited when some one suggests using rum cream in your coffee instead of cream!!!! :D :D :D

I am just loving this post. I can relate to almost every one which makes this post even more fun. My husband and I chuckled over quite a few this weekend. So, here is my contribution to this thread.

...when your friends and family ask when are you buying a place down there?

We get asked this constantly. Too bad we haven't come up with a financial game plan to make it work!

Also....

....when you get a beat up US Virgin Islands license plate from a local and consider it a treasured souvenir.

* When you live in one of the coldest climates in the US and find yourself wishing away the warm months of June and July because your flight to STT leaves on 7/27, then you might "get" STJ.

Roll on July 27th!!!!! :D
