Have no idea where you got the idea of white lattice and
plastic furniture for String of Pearls. It is a lovely honeymoon spot and very private. There's a hot tub and beach access(although a little rocky). The interior is absolutely gorgeous and the bed is to die for! You can check it out at St. John Properties.com.

We've rented 9 different villas on STJ, most recently Bay Rum Breeze last month. You said it was way too much house for the two of you, do you mean because it has 3 bedrooms? The main house is essentially a two bedroom villa, and small villas that are also luxury villas are few and far between. I think you'll have to go for at least a two bedroom to find what you're looking for in a villa.

What about Peter Bay gatehouse:

Or Sopra Mare:

Or Caribbean Jewels, just a few minutes from Bay Rum Breeze:

Or the always popular Miles Away:

Or Far Niente:

Out of the three below, which did you like best? Also which was the quietest/most private?

Great links, thank you very much!

We actually haven't rented any of those properties, I'm just familiar with them. They're on my long list of potential villas...so many villas, so little time!

Sopra Mare was built by the guy who wrote Keep Left and built Villa Tesori. It's on the south side of island, so much closer to Cruz Bay than BRB.

Caribbean Jewels is on Ajax Peak, which is near the smoothie stand. Since you've stayed in that area before, maybe you want to do so again, or maybe you'd prefer to try a new location? We've stayed all over the island and like to mix it up.

Both Sopra Mare and Caribbean Jewels were recently built.

Miles Away isn't new but it's extremely popular and I've never read a bad review about it. The owners apparently take great care of the place. It's also on the south side of the island.

I would google the villa names to find reviews, and you can also ask rental companies about things like privacy, in my experience they are always pretty honest.
