Man am I lucky!!! All of this stuff is pretty much my everyday life, minus a few cocktails.

No Make up - no one cares
Drink at breakfast - no on cares
Flip flops to work - no one cares
Drink in a to go cup - the norm
Showering at night, sometimes days apart - no one notices

I think one of the best things about living here for me is that I haven't used an alarm clock in 11 years. When I wake up, it's because I am rested and I WANT to get out of bed. Not waking up to

:!: BEEEEP :!: BEEEEP :!: BEEEEP :!:

is soooo nice! Waking up that way just puts you on the wrong foot from the get go and I don't miss it at all.

For me, I'll drink a beer. For breakfast. Or any time for that matter. But here's the thing... I rarely if EVER drink beer at home.

But for some reason a beer for breakfast on STJ is not out of the norm or completely unreasonable.

Not sure why....I would never consider this at home. EVER.

What's your ONE THING?
All I can say is what we were taught by the Sage of Sunnyledge, "ST John -- where it is not only acceptable to drink before 10 am -- it's knda wrong if you don't." VickyH

YUP. As frequently as possible. It's an incredible feeling both on the beaches, when noone's around, and in the pool back at the villa as well. Hearing the crackle of the salt water in my ears as I lay nude on Mahos' water is the most priceless feeling I've ever had.(Obviously there would be noone there to offend...)
Hell, as most of you know already, I love "unpacking" as frequently as possible during our visits.
It's a charge.
It's not just some "back to nature" thing, but moreso like something we all probably do; celebrate when we arrive, have drinks, get nude, have sex, swim, have sex, eat, have sex, drink, have sex, relax, have sex, & enjoy eachother in the middle of this incredible landscape.
I don't particularly find myself to be the best looking specimen, but have no problem being nude there. (As in if someone see's me groovin' by the pool, nekkid I don't care.I'm not gettin' TOO crazy in public, though...)
I just hope the children aren't looking, and by no means am I exhibitionist.
I think that point has been made. I hope...
Also-
A big breakfast. My Sweet Amy works days, me- nights. We get to hit "the counter" of a diner for breakfast rarely.( I've been with Amy for a little over 5 years, and she's NEVER been to "the counter " at a diner before me! I'm a lucky man... )This is something that we cherish, and leads me into yet another agreement with my forum family.-
Waking up early. Did I mention that I work nights?
While My Sweetie is making too much food for breakfast, I'm usually trying to put together Bloody Mary's or Mimosa's. That said, gotta' wake up to a soothing concoction, most days there.
It's all as energizing as it is relaxing & rewarding there. Nice and slow, while enjoying driving on the left.
One thing that I also do is try to bring STJ home with me. As you all know, there's not enough patience & caring to be found at home , sometimes.I like to be kind; STJ reminded me of that a long time ago.
I'm too wordy, sorry. No, I'm not a freak, but someone had to say something about sex on vacation!!!
Smiles-
MJ

Gotta love that afternoone delight :D Oh yea I usually start drinkin by 10am never do that at home.

Strange about the naked reply..because..when we were at our villa last time, I told my husband, that for some reason, I just liked being naked there! Funny, because at home I don't even want to see MYSELF naked. There is an outdoor shower there and I just love taking an outdoor shower then lingering afterward clotheless. I just chalked it up to the nature thing. The naked stuff NEVER happens at home. My husband quite enjoys it at STJ!

Smoke cigarrettes - something I never do at home. Some people only smoke in a bar, some only on a golf course, I only smoke on St John!

Oh, and of course Jim's version of unpacking. :)

Can't say that I've tried the nude swimming yet...Say, is that a shark out there in Maho? Nah, that's just Jim floating on his back.

These are great observations guys!

I just think it's so interesting how we change our habits (or allow ourselves to do so) on vacation and particularly a vacay on STJ or the islands!

Keep em coming!

Here are some random things (didn't follow the 'one thing' rule!):

• I almost never eat potato chips (I like them, but never buy them to have in the house). On vacation, though, we go through them like crazy, usually with sandwiches. So for me, potato chips = vacation!

• My husband wears a goatee, which I wish he would shave off -- so scratchy. He goes clean-shaven only for one thing: St. John! (helps the snorkeling mask fit better). So whenever I want him to shave off his goatee, I have to plan a trip :) :eyeroll:

• And here's a TOTALLY random one: '24'!! On our first trip, we were staying at a villa way out by Maho in December. It got dark super-early every night, and we weren't really into going out for dinner, so we stayed in. Someone had left Season 2 of '24' at the villa, so we started watching that before bed, and now it's a tradition. We rent a new season each trip. It's cheesy, but that's part of the fun. And whenever I hear the theme music, I automatically think of St. John at night.

Keep the rum in the refrigerator - that just doesnt feel right at home, but essential in the VIs.

I generally get up early on St. John. Without an alarm clock. And stay up.

I start drinking at breakfast. I only do that when I have the occasional mimosa at home.

And, contrary to what you may have heard about me, I do not hit happy hour every night...at home. But ask Chad and Todd and my friends at The Beach Bar where I can be found at 4 p.m. (I've been known to hit Woody's carry-out window on the way to the villa!)

Oh, and I wear hats. I have a pink Tigers hat and a sun hat that matches my swimsuit, and I wear them all the time there. At home, I only wear my Tigers hat at ball games. I hate hats.

Block the worries of the fast pace world we live in. I simply relax and enjoy everything the Island has to offer.......skinny dipping ( water gets cold in Michigan ), rum more rum, hiking, snorkeling, the beaches........ that's more than one, i think i need more rum

I NEVER wear clothes in the villa/pool. Needless to say, I ALWAYS seek out a very private villa rather than ruin somebody else's visit.
