Sox - with all due respect, maybe there is a self inflicted reason the leash is much shorter? Everybody knows your modus operandi, making the “why me?” stuff come off as kind of whiny.
Besides “your reputation precedes you”, another expression comes to mind: “you reap what you sow”.
