it's 10am and am ready to go to "5 Guys" for a hamburger & fries!

My salad for lunch is not going to satisfy now.

Interesting...if I may ask: Ground beef or the pre-made patties?

I only ask because after my first Skinny's burger I commented to myself that they tasted hand made (as in not a frozen patty).

Burgers are definitely state of mind food.

Best burger I've ever had: Palm Beach in Aruba...sitting at a bar in a swing, with my darling spouse to one side and a rum runner to the other. The burger sucked, but the day is one of our best ever that didn't include a child being born.

But, my wife's reaction to her first Skinny's burger is one I'll not soon forget.

A Skinny's bleu cheese burger with bacon is the absolute best in my opinion.

Followed by Woody's(had them in the past). Island Blues was a fine burger in July, but for me, didn't compare to Skinny's.

My stewed goat was pretty darned good, too!
I hear ya! I would try the goat over a burger too. But then again, I am all about what I can't get at home.

Maybe it is because Woody's is part of our arrival ritual but I much prefer a Woody burger over a Skinny burger. Although, last trip we had a Skinny Burger on our arrival night and I still prefer the Woody.

I think a lot of it does have to do with being on St. John. That being said, it's simply not a trip to St. John if I haven't gone to Skinny's at least once to get a burger during my stay. Generally it's a blue cheese burger, but I often catch the burger of the day calling me, especially if it involves barbecue sauce.

Burgers on the deck of the villa at sunset can't really be beat either.

I remember on my first trip to Jost we got there and we were hungry, so Ivan offered to make us some burgers. They were absolutely nothing exceptional: small patty, one slice on onion, cheese and lettuce. However, when you sit at a picnic table a few feet from the sea drinking a cold (OK, lukewarm) Carib, it tastes live heaven on a styrofoam plate.

Best mahi sandwich for me has been at Woody's with a side of pasta salad. I ate that almost everyday for lunch on one trip!

Best burger IMHO is Island Blues with bacon, cooked medium. They char broil. Burgers come out very juicy and messy! Next would be La Plancha's Bacon Blue. When I lived on island, I think I tried burgers from every restaurant. I like me some cheeseburger,

Just had the blue cheese burger with bacon from Skinny's last Friday and must say its one of the best I have had.

Didn't hurt that the folk band playing had an impromptu bagpipe addition from the crowd - beer, burger and banjo/bag-piping made for a pretty rad time...

Boston Mike wrote:If a burger can ooze the grease and toppings you have on it and drip down your hands and run down your arms, that is a good burger.

If a burger requires you to hold it with two hands, and your fingers are at least 3 inches apart, that is a good burger.

If a burger requires you to stretch your mouth and show everyone in the establishment your beautiful dental work, that is a good burger.

If you use more than 5 napkins while eating your burger, that is a good burger.

After eating your burger, you sit back, rub the tummy and realize you need an afternoon nap; you just ate a good burger.

You’re on St. John…….everything is good!
