You know, I think man's relationship with woman is very much like the Nitendo game with Mario, in that you race around, do hundreds of things right, and accumulate a bucket full of tolkens. Then you make one little slip and all of your tolkens gets dumped out. Sounds to me if you go to STJ by yourself you not only are get the bucket dumped out, you'll probably lose the damned bucket itself!
Two years ago I had the chance to go back and stay in a pickup truck style camper right on Fries Bay near Miss Lucy's. It had electricity[sort of] and a gas stove. No john, no shower though I could use those facilities in the house. After several trips with Mrs. JT and me staying in "villas" she had no use in roughing it in a camper but told me to go if I wanted to. I think that the bucket of tolkens was dangerously close to tipping over for me even looking into airfares and car rentals! Just my two tolkens worth.

Just another thought from a woman's point of view...

How many times have you asked your wife "What's wrong honey?" and she answers "Ohhhh nothingggg." You KNOW something's wrong, but she doesn't want to start a big bru-ha-ha, expecting you to "get it" without her having to tell you.

This is the same deal, I believe! She wants you to "get it" without her having to tell you. She wants to see if you will do the right thing on your own merit. It's kind of like a test.

From a wife's perspective... don't do it.

Not to pile on, but Parafins, I think this is a really bad idea. I think you would be setting yourself up for a difficult time in your marriage...why should you get to go on vacation, while she has to stay home with the kids? Not fair. I know I would be incredibly resentful.

Look at the bright side: your refund is paying off your debt, right? That will make things easier on you and your family, and maybe you can sock some $$ away in 2010 for a trip for ALL of you in 2011--a year earlier than you originally planned.

Thanks...

Sorry that I couldn't respond quicker.I had to work at my second job last night.Thank you all for your response to this. You are right, don't do it.If I was going to a hunting lodge up north and planed on killing an gutting a crittter, there would be no guilt. She would not enjoy that at all. But St.John is different. It's where we spent our honeymoon and it's very special to us. Going without the children would be tough. My wife does not want to burden family or friends with having to care for them for a week or two.We differ on this but she feels strongly about this.Don't get me wrong I love our kids and we enjoy traveling with them. In a few years the both of us will be able to go without them{our oldest is 14}.As for now I will wipe out our debt completly and save like mad so that maybe next summer we can go back TOGETHER and there will be no guilt. :D Happy S.T.J. memories!!!! Parafins

Oh,yah...
