Gromit:
"Dear CBD,
Wow, that was quite an experience! Welcome to the forum I hope that in addition to this first post of a slightly negative nature you will provide many more posts about what it's like to visit one of our favorite places in the world: STJ!
Is that better?"
No worries Gromit.
You
were pretty harsh, but I know you're just looking out for the community.
Here's to us getting along better in the future.
Cheers!

Bait much?
Had I know you were vitriolic
and smug I wouldn't have bothered.
I have no intention of getting into a flame-war with you. I came here to make friends, not enemies.
Suffice it to say:
Now I know who to look out for around here.
Sheesh!

always like this?)

Hey CBD - welcome to the forum! I too hope that we can hear some more on-island news, advice, and just generally fun info from you. (You know we all live vicariously through this forum from time to time. Umm, like now, when it's below freezing here.)
BTW I love Coral Bay. If you live there - lucky you! Just came back from a week at Rhumb Runners, with the most glorious views.
And I hope you don't mind a gentle FYI: I'm pretty sure that Gromit's

emoticons are just a shorthand way to say that all's cool, no worries, we're all good here. I'm quite sure she wasn't baiting you.
One handy feature I've learned is the edit button, just in case I want to change something I wrote previously. Happens to me all the time.
Oh!

Oh! Yeah, I guess you're probably right.
Whoops!
I guess after Gromit's long string of reactionary posts, I was a-little on the defensive.
PEACE GROMIT

I also believe that was all Gromit was saying, This forum is more about the positive side of STJ and resolving bad experiences in a tranquil way . Look at all the feedback Wonderlost got about his renter issue.

Um.. yea. There are some on here who think they are the premadona's and feel that they run the show. Who knows? But eh, no worries... most of us are supportive of local business's on SJ, and I for one, enjoyed hearing of your experience. Thanks !!

Hi all - CBD is correct...DD is not affiliated with CBC & we were unaware of the outdated link. Thanks for the catch! We're in the process of switching web service providers & hosting, so thanks for your patience while we get this cleaned up.

For what it’s worth, here’s my take on this:
1. CBD asked Anthony’s permission before posting. Anthony’s house, Anthony’s rules.
2. I don’t see CBD as advertising his business here on the forum. What would be the point, as how many of “us tourists” need digital services or websites when we’re visiting St. John?
3. I’m glad I know about Coral Bay Computers now, because if I take my laptop on vacation with me and have issues with it where I need to have it repaired, I know who NOT to take it to. I would be furious if someone trashed my computer with all my vacay pictures on it!
4. Maybe the logo in CBD’s signature is a bit over the top, as other business owners on this forum aren’t allowed and don’t do that, but CBD is new, and he’s still learning the ropes around here.
Can we make a pact not to pounce on someone new just because they don’t know the rules? Thanks!

Someone else asked if there was another
Computer Repair Shop here on the island and I am happy to report that there is!
It's called:
Computers Express and it's located in the Cruz Bay Connections office (behind the bulletin board, where the old Innovative office used to be).
I've done business with them several times and they are very competent. They
are a bit over-priced, but then again, what on St. John
isn't?
The owner's name is
Jason and he is a pleasure to do business with.

Hope this helps!

Welcome to the forum CBD...for what it's worth I'm the resident smart-ass who doesn't take herself or this forum too seriously!!

@CBD- the others got it right. There was no hidden message I was just trying to be nice and fun-- folks who know me here got that and I'm sorry that you misinterpreted it.
I think I have explained myself and my reaction to your post adequately.
From time to time Anthony has asked assistance from the forum to report anything out of the ordinary and that's what I was trying to do. In restrocpect I should have just let Anthony deal with it.
I think you'll find as you read through my posts over the years that I have a very direct style that some appreciate and some don't. But it is most always intended with good humor.
I wish you and your business well.
