I think the island needs something that we have on Cape Cod. It is called the Treasure Chest and it is a place where people bring things they no longer need/use and drop them off. Other people can take whatever they need. There is so much trash on the island and there were alot of things in the dumpsters other than trash. It would be a great addition to the island and I think would benefit many.

I thought of this over the weekend and laughed when I had the thought. This is something I love to do on vacation ever since last spring and demand that it be everywhere I want/plan to go.

Go-Karts. They're so frickin' awesome! Although, I have no idea what kind of Karts you'd need to negotiate the hills and dodge the donkeys.

Maybe they could pave a part of Trunk Bay and it would be just like Mario Kart. Me and the kid would totally love that.

(Y'all know I'm kidding right?)

But it would totally rule!

I've long said that driing on STJ is almost like driving on some Disneyfied course. MAybe we could lobby for some sort of STJ Grand Prix and shut the place down like they do in Monaco-- only with Go Karts

the more st.john fills up with the stuff we need, the less it's like the place i fell in love with.

Our island before St. John was St. Martin. That is way too busy for me, but it did have a few things that I wish St. John had:

1. Inexpensive outdoor restaurants run by local Islanders. In St. Martin, they are called lolo's and serve the best grilled meats, seafood and traditional Caribbean side dishes. A huge plate of food for $7, and always a mix of locals and tourists.

2. Some sort of festive night during the high season in town. St. Martin had this thing called "Harmony Nights" in Grand Case. People would come and sell their art, jewelry, etc and live music was playing. It got everyone together.

3. I will be crucified for this, but a bar on an actual beach. The stand at Trunk doesn't count.

I agree with #3. I run a charter boat and it would be great to have a place on St. John to take guests for a nice lunch.

Does anyone know if there is a "goodwill" type store on the island. When we go, my niece always takes clothes with her that she calls her "throw away clothes". They are in good condition but she doesn't want them anymore. This lightens her load for the trip home but she always just dumps them in the dumpster. It would be great if there was a store that takes used clothing.
