....what UF Prof said, but I'd add: If you're going to unpack 1/2 of what your spouse has packed, give them the option of choosing which 1/2! I inadvertently unpacked the three favorite pair of shorts he had packed and left him with just the not-so-favorite ones.

If you are going for 5 days, start saving and planning for the next trip now. You'll understand by day 3. It took us one trip with suitcases to understand the good advice we received here about overpacking. We now do 10 days to STJ with one carry-on each. That includes bringing frozen steaks with the clothes. 12 hours later, the steaks hadn't begun to thaw. St. John Spice has every kind of seasoning you could need and it's a fun place to spend money. We picked up a tip about STT taxis on the forum that has really been a help. There is a sweet lady on St. Thomas who runs a taxi service for visitors named Rachael. Her number is 340-771-2986. You just call her in advance and give her your flight arrival info. She will meet you at baggage claim with your name on as sign. She takes you directly to the ferry without waiting around to fill a van and she charges $25.00 a head. She's a great tour guide for St. Thomas while you are getting there and you will have made a fantastic friend. She's very well known on the island and tries to take care of old folks in her spare time. She really is quite an angel and you get the treatment of a privately hired car service for the same taxi price. Book her early, because she is well known and quite popular. It makes a great start to your "island attitude".
