Here's the combination version (Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World) by Iz Kamakawiwo. Sadly, he passed in 1997 from Respiratory Illness.

Mission of My Soul – Peter Himmelman
Let’s Play – The Subdudes
Make Up Your Mind – Richie Spice

On a side note, on American Idol last week, Kris Allen did a rather stunning version of a song called “Falling Slowly”. My daughter had downloaded the original version of this song after it won an Oscar for Best Original Song in 2007.
It is from the somewhat obscure film “Once”, an Irish musical/drama starring musicians Glen Hansard (of popular Irish rock band The Frames) and Marketa Irglova as struggling musicians. Kris Allen’s version might be better (available on iTunes).

Hmmm....we've already mentioned two of my faves, Island in the Sun and Santeria. Here are a few from my "STJ playlist" that I haven't seen yet:

Sunny Hours - Long Beach Dub Allstars
Good Time - Brazilian Girls
Nothing is Worth Losing You - Elan

Needless to say my musical tastes are crazy eclectic(ranging from classical to reggae to rock to pop to dance).

Here's some of the more "interesting" choices on my Beach & STJ play lists....

There are some surprises and some classics. Some are unusual re-mixes or covers of familiar songs but unique in their own way- so the artist notation is important.

Enjoy!

In the Sun - Joseph Arthur

Funkier than a Mosquito's Tweeter- Nina Simone

The Seed 2.0 - The Roots & Cody Chestnut Edited to note that the CLEAN version is more preferable. The lyrics are a bit nasty but I like the rythym and the tune...

Galileo - Indigo Girls

I'll Melt with you - Nouvelle Vague

Express Yourself (Mocean Worker Remix) - Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rythm Band

Here comes the sun- Nina Simone

Cruel Summer (Blestenation Mix) - Blestenation

Le Tue Parole- Andrea Boccelli

Escape (the Pina Colada Song) - Rupert Holmes

We Are Family - Sister Sledge

Brighter than Sunshine- Aqualung

Nothin but a good time - Poison

Tiny Dancer- Elton John

Bittersweet Symphony - The Verve

Anything from 50 First Dates Soundtrack

Anything from the Blue Crush Soundtrack

Edited to correct Big Crush -- should be BLUE Crush (the movie with Kate Bosworth about surfer girls in Hawaii)
