Ummm Xislandgirl...no need to feel intimidated! Your food looks delicious AND has great presentation!

Take note that my presentation usually bites the big one not to mention that our plates are an assortment of Correl from the 80's or something AND if only you could see our "Brady Bunch kitchen" ya'll would die laughing.

This is all for fun here and this board has inspired me to try things I NEVER would have thought of trying!

We took Czech Gulash and Dumplings to the homebrew club meeting yesterday. It was a big hit and went fast. No pics, but I'll post the recipe. Its pretty easy, and a great way to show off fresh paprika.

Nice, very nice. What was the makeup of the batter?

Also, which deep fryer do you have. I'm tired of always going out to use the burners of my turkey fryer.

Thanks

Prommoguy, the coating is

one cup flour
one cup cornstarch
1 bottle beer
2 tsp. salt (or so)

I usually add one egg also, but did not this time because I was feeding my nephew who is allergic. The coating still adhered perfectly.

As for the deep fat fryers, I actually have two. I like one a lot more than the other one, but I am blanking on the name. I'll look at it when I get home and let you know.

When we fry fish of late, we dip it in mustard (yellow or creole) then dip it in the flour mix. It's awesome!!!

The new Dove Extra Dark Chocolate 63% cacao now showing up in grocery stores, Target, etc. is pretty good for a mass market product with a nice balance between sweet/bitter.
Available as individually wrapped pieces or as a bar shown here that we chopped up and used in a cupcake recipe recently.

Do you have handy the deep fryer. You look like you know how to handle one.

Sorry, promoguy, I forgot you wanted that info. I have two, one is a rival and the other is a t-fal (aventi, I think). They both work fine but the t-fal is bigger, has a frying basket, and seems to keep its heat a little better than the rival.

So, last night I made my first roti! Kind of. I had never made them before so trolled around on the internet for a recipe. I found one that supposedly came from the VI. I can't make bread so I called my local indian place and ordered some roti bread from them. They gave me paratha by mistake, and also cut it into serving pieces, so I could not make the one big roll I had been planning. Instead we just made mini-"rotis." Here is a picture of everything waiting to be assembled. As you can see I also made pigeon peas and rice. Despite the bread mixup, this dinner was really, really yummy.

Here are some pictures from last night. I made fondue. It was delicious, but holy crow, my whole house smells like feet now! And I have people showing up in a couple of hours!

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28539958@N00/2237339667/" title="laura fondue by liamsaunt, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2373/223 ... d3c4e8.jpg" width="500" height="444" alt="laura fondue"></a>

I also made meat for the guys. That's beef in the front and pork in the back:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28539958@N00/2237339811/" title="steak um by liamsaunt, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2142/223 ... f65007.jpg" width="375" height="500" alt="steak um"></a>

And baked potatoes:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28539958@N00/2237339391/" title="baked potatoes by liamsaunt, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2114/223 ... 678e23.jpg" width="375" height="500" alt="baked potatoes"></a>

that got covered with fondue and bacon:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28539958@N00/2237339521/" title="fondue potato by liamsaunt, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2358/223 ... 23155e.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="fondue potato"></a>

My assigned seat for the game is the chair in front of the computer, so I will try and post some pitures of the super bowl spread at halftime.
