Oh my gosh Connie I am so, so sorry. Some of the most devastating times in my life have been when I've lost cats. That's not to say that I haven't been through some really tough non-cat stuff, but losing a cat you love is absolutely horrible. I'll keep you in my prayers.

When some of the initial shock has worn off, could you share with us exactly how this happened? I'm a wee bit confused by your explanation but totally understand that you were posting in the heat of the moment...
I am so, so sorry for your loss. These little creatures sure do become attached to us but even more, we become attached to them.
Marcia, it was so fast. Within 10 seconds he was gone. He was eating some food, we heard a thump. He had fallen over, (I believe he was gone at that time). I heard my husband yelling..oh no...oh no as Buca was falling down the steps. That was it. Just like a person would die from a massive heart attack.
I've had many pets, especially cats, but I never saw anything like that. It was just shocking.
I picked him up and I could just tell he was gone.
I can't tell you as word spread how many people called me. Even my Mother cried.
Buca was the most sociable and perfect cat I have ever had.
It's ironic that we just got a new kitten. In a way, it makes me miss him even more.
Thank you everybody for your condolences.

OMG. What a shock. That does sound like a massive heart attack. I suppose the upshot is that Bucca didn't suffer.
Again, so, so sorry for your loss.

Hey Connie, just wanted to say how sorry and sad to hear of your beloved Bucca's passing.
I know just how you feel and can only reach out with sympathy and to let you know of this
great book for people that have lossed feline kids before...
It's called Angel Cats by Allen & Linda Anderson.
Also another real good one called Animals In Spirit
by Penelope Smith. They both helped me a bit when
I needed it.
Take care,
Kathy
ps My Binx looked very similar to Bucca.
He never would've allowed me to dress
him like Santa though...your picture is
precious

Connie,
So very sorry for your loss. I'm a cat owner also and my cats are 14.5 and 13.5 so I dread the day that I loose them.
I look forward to giving you a live hug next Tuesday in KOP.
Please take care,
Nancy

So sorry for your loss.

My cat named Mouse is 19 and also black-we've put the Santa hat on her for pictures too (our Chris Mouse) but didn't do the beard-that was a great idea. Black cats are always photogenic with colors-I'm sure you have many wonderful pictures and memories of him you'll always treasure. Time will heal your heart.

Oh Connie I am so sorry.............what a pretty boy Bucca was. Thank goodness he didn't suffer, but I hurt for you and your loss. Time will help and memories will sustain you.
I have a 17 year old who is on his last legs. I dread the day. Take care.

To everyone that has replied, I thank you so much.
Buca will always be remember in this house. My daughter just can't believe he's gone.
I have his "buddy" named Tiki and I know he's been affected. They wrestled everyday in this house.
It's great to watch the kitten though.
Thank you all and Merry Christmas!

Connie, I am also so sorry for your loss. What a terrible shock for you. Was he old?
