I prefer the quiet and also hope that this does not become a trend but the beach is not mine and I will not pretend to make the rules. I like the option of putting on the fins and placing my ears below the waves.

I’m pretty sure I’ve read somewhere that amplified music is not legal on the beaches…it might have been on a sign somewhere on STJ.
We have had others impose their loud music on us a few times and I find it pretty frustrating and annoying. We have left a beach over it once or twice. I would never impose my music on someone else like that…that’s why headphones were invented.

The worst are the people who back their trucks or SUVs into the few spots torward the north side of Maho and play the music through the vehicle's sound system. Totally obnoxious!
Even at the Jersey shore you can't do that.

This happened to us last year. We were at Cinnamon and had a large group of people set up camp right NEXT to us (probably mid 20s). I was listening to my iPod (via headphones) and couldn't even hear my music with the blaring music next to us.
I think the rule of thumb should be if you wouldn't like someone sitting right next to you blaring music that you do not like then you shouldn't impose it on other people.
Just a little common sense can go a long way. (Unfortunately there are people out there that don't have any!) Just my two sense.

If we encounter people behaving badly I simply turn Mrs. Random loose. At times she has the tact and diplomacy of a flame thrower. This needs some qualification - Maho is a busy public beach and music, while not appreciated, can be expected. I'm not familiar with the National Park beaches, but you could approach the DJ and ad lib - let them know that the Park Service can take the boom box AND fine them, so please be cool. Don't get caught. Now if I drive to Lameshur on that bumpy-a$$ road to reach that beautiful spot in paradise, and have to listen to some Barry Manilow crap, I'll make sure the DJ has the full Random experience.

This is what we refer to in my family as "bringing the heat" I am usually the one, ok I am ALWAYS the one to do it. I am very very patient but once I am done I am so done.
It is most effective in car dealerships.
