I can't believe how HUGE those waves are!! I like it calmer, but it would have been fun for a day. :)Thanks for posting the picture!

There were waves when we were there a few weeks ago too, but nothing like that. I know our snorkelers in the group never really felt comfortable to go out in it.

Mamma Mia!! Those are some honkin waves!!

I gotta say I've NEVER seen anything like it on STJ.

I leave in 6 days and all I can say is that it BETTER calm down.

Girlie here needs to get her snorkel on and if I wanted waves like that I would head to Hawaii!

When we were there over Thanksgiving last year we didn't see anything like that! Cinnamon was definitely more windy than I'd remembered from previous trips but I didn't see any waves like that.

Maho and Francis were still calm and waveless!

If the north shore is looking more like a surfers paradise there's always salt pond and lameshur.

Yep, we were there last year also at this time, up until Thanksgiving day. Flip flop, I think we overlapped. We had one day at Cinnamon where it was a little rough, the waves curled like that, but nothing like this year.

It was so bad our husbands went out there and kept getting knocked over, I know they were trying to look like they were "ok", but I see my husband staggering and I am wondering is he all right? They come in a few minutes later and admit defeat. It was just too dangerous. That huge wall of water just crashing straight down. They tried to body surf, but it was just pounding them straight into the sand, no forward momentum.

Hi Sarah D! We are really close to Fort Mill, we live in the Ballantyne area of Charlotte. When we got home the other day, I woke up and opened the drapes and saw this dreary rain instead of blue skies and pink flowers and I just felt like jumping out of the window.

It gets harder each time I come home. I'm in big time depression.

We were body surfing on thanksgiving morning at Magens on STT. We have never ever seen much more than a ripple there in our many visits.

As a result the water was very stirred up last week. We snorkeled waterlemon, trunk and some places on STT. All were stirred up. The south shore beaches were slightly less stirred, but still bad.

Schnell-- I usually find that if the waves are higher on one sie of STJ, you can usually head to the other side and the water is as smooth as glass.

Gotta watch out for the winter northern swells!
