Although I haven't actually stayed in either place, I'd not hesitate to camp at either Vie's or VIERS. Vie's would be more primitive, with only an outhouse, I believe, but right smack on the beach with a wonderful St. Johnian hostess.VIERS does accept private parties when they are not fully booked by University groups...they have very nice cabins, great baths and showers...a longer walk to the beach, but still not too shabby a location.

Although, I've never spent the night at Vies, I have seen the camping area. The beach is wonderful but the camping facilities are very basic. I think there is an outhouse and a solar shower. I have stayed at Ivan's on Jost Van Dyke which is two short ferry rides from St. Thomas. I would highly recommend Ivan's Campground.
