I noticed a lot of people mentioned a designer purse...well if you don't want to spend THAT much money Coach and Dooney and Burke have "wristlets". Little purses that will hold lipgloss, ID, and whatever else a 16 year old puts in a purse. I have a couple and love mine..

well I decided. I sent her flowers - thought that might be kinda fun to get a delivery and I'm getting her a gift cert. to a local spa her and her mother go to (her mom is my best friend).
let me put it this way..... the girl wants for nothing so that makes it that much harder.

thanks for the ideas!

My grand's 16th was last month. I bought a gift card from Charlotte Russe, as she loves this mall store. Don't know where you are in Jersey, but lots of locations, on their website. This is a very trendy, reasonably price clothing/shoes/accessories store. My g/d loves it!

My one cent...the reason I suggested these two items is because I know first hand (have a 17 year old) that know matter how many times you tell them to not be playing with the iPod or talk on the phone they still will. By having the blue tooth or the radio connector, their hands will be free to drive rather than messing with the electronics.

OK MB, here we go again...........thinking alike! The whole time I'm reading your post I'm thinking "flowers, flowers, flowers"....GOOD CHOICE!!

Believe it or not MY Godmother sent me a dozen pink roses for my 16th birthday (many many many moons ago)and they were my FAVORITE gift! Those beautiful roses made me feel grown up, special, and pretty. Silly as it seems......there is nothing like "Sweet 16". Good for you for being such a good God Mother. Plus the spa,,,,,,wow icing on the cake!!!!!!

P.S to CG...."smart ass" :P :P :P :P

That is what I did for my 16 yr old neice. She loves Charlotte Russe! Hell, I love Charlotte Russe! So does my sister...my daughter...Work clothes, casual clothes, party clothes...SHOES!

I also think the Apple Itunes is a great idea. So is the spa/salon. The girl woman likes to go and get her eyelashes permed!

LOL! She gets them done every 4 weeks like clock work. Her lashes are thick and long but straight and she hates them. The perm works really well!
