TR - the man himself has a very good sense of humor about it.
McCain has said “yes it’s true - I’m older than dirt”. Now thats funny but I couldnt get away with saying that, so this is what I thought was a more objective way to bring up this sensitive but possibly important topic. Plus there is little else to go on regarding this issue since a few reporters were only allowed 3 hours to go through more than 1,000 pages of his health records that cover his last eight years.
Like the heading of the post says, just something to think about while watching the VP debate and one of the ways to do that is with the data you and I posted. Thanks. I don't feel so ashamed now.

Yup, Maher is bitter but often pretty darn funny too.
Yeah, sometimes he can be funny. I do watch all the time, and my wife always comes out and says "why do you watch this?"...Because she knows I disagree with every one of his positions politically - and I often get aggrevated.
I mean, can you put a good conservative on the show once in awhile? Well, he did have Tony Snow on a couple of times if I remember correctly (may he rest in peace).

Tony Snow was a talented man.
He could sell snow to eskimos (no pun intended!) Maybe they are having trouble finding conservatives with a sense of humor?

Just something to thing about:
When I was a kid and my mom was 40, I thought she was old. When I was 40, I thought 60 was old. Now that I'm 60 (or will be next month), I don't think ANYTHING is old. When I'm McCain's age, I doubt that I will think I'm too old to run for office and make a difference.
I always hated it when I was young and someone "old" would give me advice, because I knew better. Now that I'm "old" myself, I realize that most of the advice I was given was based on life experience and was very valuable - I wish I had listened and paid more attention sometimes!
The difference between McCain & Obama in this discussion is that McCain has much more life experience than Obama, and I so doubt that he has one foot on a banana peel. JMO.

Of course experience and the presumed wisdom that brings is the upside of the age equation and McCain and Biden certainly have plenty of that.
Reagan had the best debate line ever on this: “I won’t hold my opponents youth and inexperience against him”. Funny but not condescending because of the way he delivered it. Guess that’s why some called him the “Great Communicator”.

BTW, one more reason I even brought this health issue up and why I might be thinking too much about it leading up to the VP debate is that my wife is a breast cancer survivor.
When you are forced to confront charts that talk about “5 Year Survival Rates” and “10 Year Survival Rates” it changes your perspective, and words like “recurrence” and “Stage 2a and 3b melanoma” tend to concern me.
Maybe for some its "crazy" or "low" to even mention it, but those of you out there who have been touched by this know what I mean. The stress associated with checkups is no fun. So, when McCain wins, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for him too when he goes in for HIS checkups.

I drifted away from this forum for awhile only to come back and see the passion you all have in this election year. Good for you! That means you
will vote. I imagine that this post will be locked soon just like Gromits earlier post that took me forever to read but enjoyable. Thank you all for caring about the issues, no matter which way you vote.
Tonight's VP debate will be interesting. Being on the MST, I still have to wait a few more hours.
P.S. Bill Maher is one of my favorites...he is very hilarious!

Apparently there are others who are concerned about the health issue.
