Only get the beagle if you are planning on giving her a STJ related name though:lol:
We found the same thing when we brought home a 12wk old puppy to our 5 yr old lab mix. The older one has now become the mother of the younger and they get along great. And we did not have any issues training the puppy or any horror stories about chewing the house apart. We really believe it was due to the older dog keeping tabs on her.

However, both names have nothing to do with anything in the VI's

My dog is the best except she hates other dogs. But I think only regular full grown ones because she got attacked at a local dog park.

I think if it were a tiny little thing that she didn't realize was, in fact, a dog she'd be ok.

Oh, and she's a very very very puppy like 8. They told us when we got her she'd calm down at about 2. 2 came and when and then people said surely by 3-4. We're still waiting!

When we arrived home from STJ this May I went to the boarders to pick up my dog. (A black German Shepherd named Max) They had a litter of kittens that someone had left abandoned there. We took 2. A black and white tuxedo named Oppenheimer,Oppy for short, and a brown and grey tabby named Gibney, Gibby for short. It seemed appropriate the day after our trip. They joined Lucy, our grey cat, And our 4 horses. Shazaam, Bandit, Milly, and Missy Lou.

My dog is used also:
Image

He was already given the name "JJ" (which I guess could stand for JJ's Texas Coast restaurant).

He was abandoned in a yard tied to a tree. Neighbor kids were throwing him food through the fence, and he was drinking from a mud puddle. The people who left him for dead started feeling bad after almost two weeks and notified the proper authorities.

He is a Cocker Spaniel of the B/W Parti variety.

You people are weird! I give my cats dog names...

Spike - long-haired orange tabby
Rusty - orange tabby
Ginger - orange tabby (female)
Rover - grey

The exception is Larry - she arrived as a kitten in a box with her 2 brothers, all orange...named Daryl, Daryl, and Larry.

Ok, this doesn't really count, but I think it deserves a mention... that guy under my name is Charlie. He came from the ACC here on St. John. You can check out a baby picture of him here: http://www.stjohnanimalcarecenter.com/adopt.php
He's the guy at the bottom with a big ADOPTED stamped on him. He's doin' good! Now 5+ years old and about 3 times the size.

Julie,
I clicked on that and saw Lucky...I thought he got adopted in 2005 right after I had to leave island.
I could not adopt him as TN would not allow pit bulls.
I was told he had been adopted by someone in STT who used him as a somewhat guard dog.
Is he back at ACC?

Lucky spent a long long time at the ACC....he was adopted out a couple of times without much luck. He didn't like to share his affection! I'm not sure where he is now, but I will see if I can find out. I know Connie, who pretty much runs the place, does NOT like anyone who attempts to make a dog aggressive. She would rather hang on to a dog for life before she let someone with ill intentions take a dog. I really have to give her props for what she does. She really does look out for the animals (the furry ones anyhow) of STJ. Actually, if I remember correctly, I think Lucky is one of the dogs that would get adopted then promptly "run away" back to the ACC. And although Lucky is undeniably a pit or a pit mix, that is also the name they assign to almost all of the strays on island. Charlie had that breed attached to him (turns out he is a great dane lab mix). He was beat and starved as a puppy before some do-gooder left him at the ACC. It took months before he stopped shivering in his boots and let anyone pet him without crying. Charlie is the best dog I ever met...couldn't imagine my life without him. The ACC...they do good, if anyone is feeling in the giving mood, throw the ACC a couple of bones... you can donate to them online at: http://www.stjohnanimalcarecenter.com/help.php

I adopted Stella who was in a kennel with Lucky and they loved to play together.

This is Butkus. It's not an island name, but it's old school. Big name for a little pooch, don't ya think?
