Its fun to finally "see" the inside of that house. Its a gorgeous spot for sure, but some of it is too formal for me. As long as we're talking about extravagant places I'll never be able to afford to rent, I would much prefer the more islandy, open-air feel of Necker Island:

Now you're talking, IowaGuy. The Peter Bay one is a bit gaudy for my taste.

Only 22K. Kismet and Hawksview Estate sure are overpriced.

Yes but Mike, it's $42,500 per week for Christmas/New Year and $32,500 per week for high season but the deal breaker for me was that those prices are the "without chef" prices - I was almost going to rent it for my "forum family" but now I would have to cook for you all as well - no go

At least you get meals at Necker Island -- maybe that is the right choice! (Well, if you have $50,000 or so sitting around!)

Dear Pia,
You rent it and I'll cook.
Better yet,I think Anthony out to host a month long forum gathering at the villa.
I'll still cook.

I can man the blender and keep the margaritas and pina coladas flowing.

Lulu - $50 grand will only get you one night on Necker Island!
Besides, I'd only go if it came with Sir Richard in the deal!

Oh dear! $50 grand a night?! That's ridiculous.
I don't know what's worse: that people pay that or that it was Sir Richard's family vacation home.
We used to have a camper for our truck when I was growing up. I think Dad got it for a couple hundred bucks at a yard sale.

Good Golly Molly...two paragraphs in to "Nancy's
description" and my eyes were tired from trying to
read all the "BIG WORDS"! I hope they drew up and
printed a map for the place so the 1 rich person
that stays there won't get lost

.
Lord help us STJ lovers if this the new "future"
housing standard for North Shore.

That's what I was thinking. Not that I don't love some of these deluxe villas that are popping up, but I really hope that we don't all get priced off the island by all the affordable housing options getting squeezed out. The place we're staying doesn't have bells and whistles, but we still get to stay on STJ for a week, and that's all that matters.
After the comments yesterday about Maho and hoping this wasn't its future, I have decided to donate a little extra money to the Trust for Public Land. It's the least we can do, I think.

I wonder how long that pool table will last.
Between drink spillage, dancing, tropical air, and goodness know what else, I can't imagine it will be there for long.
