Yeah, that whole Vol Navy thing is pretty cool. I know quite a few people that went up for the game this past weekend. They said that the setting with that huge stadium and the Tennessee River providing a backdrop, is gorgeous.

They also said that for some reason, traffic after the game wasn't too bad either!

Just a matter of perspective I suppose - I thought it was a very enjoyable game!

But I am glad that you were able to have a good time anyway...

Iowaguy - Neyland Stadium sits right on the Tennessee River. It is pretty cool, even for girls that don't like football!!

Augie - Like most of the stadium...we left at halftime and went back to drinkin' on the boat! That was significantly more fun than watching the game.

KYGirl - If you come down for the KY game, be sure to let me know. I'm not sure we'll be there, but if we are, we definitely need to connect.

It is fun to find other people who feel the same way about STJ that I do. Is it just me, or do you find it hard to exlain to friends/family WHY you keep going back to the same place? They think I am weird. Then, every so often, you bump into a stranger that has the same bug and it makes you feel normal....well, at least for a minute.

I just came back from our local grocery store. As I was coming out of the parking area there was a car in front of me with a STJ sticker on it. Then I did something I never dreamed I would do-I followed the car all the way to its driveway. Turns out it's right around the corner from me. I got out and told the woman driver who I was and asked if she had any idea why I was there. She responded: the STJ sticker? She had seen my car in the parking lot and recognized the sticker and my license frame. We had a long and nice chat. She has friends who are building in Chocolate Hole. Made a new friend in the neighborhood. We don't often meet our neighbors because we are spread out so this was a great opportunity to meet and chat STJ.

These stories are funny.

Silverheels - I chuckled out loud while reading your story. It's like when a cop pulls you over and says "do you know why I stopped you today"? It's like the STJ secret patrolman! Too funny! I was really hoping it was going to end with you slightly tipping your sunglasses down, and saying just slightly underbreath, "Meke Leka-hi"?

I will warn you- do not take a drink of anything while reading this post. You will laugh at my stupidness.

The day before I left for vacation I had an appt to get my nails done. I pulled out of the salon and was in the left lane. Just ahead of me was a car with two STJ bumper stickers in the right lane. I got the left turn signal and pulled up next to the car and honked the horn. The woman looked over at me and put her window down. I was in the convertible and the car behind me was honking for me to go. I had no idea what to say so I looked at her and said "St. John" she looked at me like I was crazy and so I quickly said "mekelekahi meka heiny ho", the guy behind me layed on the horn so I drove through the light, waving behind me.

I am fairly certain that the woman in the Honda Pilot thought that I was insane.

Vicki: Is there any possibility that big ugly edifice could fall into the Tennessee River in the event of an earthquake?

It is great, so much fun! I think I could almost be a UT fan. We will definitely be at the UK/UT game down there in November! Anyone else from the forum going to be there?
KyG - Be careful down there fraternizing with the enemy. Those Vol fans are not to be trusted!

Washington and Tenn. are the only NCAA stadiums where fans can arrive by boat. 8)

I heard that Phil was leaving to take a job with FEMA. Apparently they were very impressed with how he was able to evacuate 100K people from the stadium so quickly on Saturday...
