South of DC, slightly, the rain has stopped and the sky is less grey. Still grey but less so.
Looks like we are gonna get a pass.

Anxiously awaiting Hanna's arrival here in Connecticut. I believe she is dumping rain on the southwestern portion of the state at the moment (we're in mid-state, western section). We've had a bleak and extremely humid day. The deck furniture is secured, the potted plants are in the garage and the flashlights and batteries are ready.
Predictions are for an exciting evening/night and a sunny day tomorrow. Hope they're right!!

Mudcats? We got Muddogs up here!
Down the creek, our little trickle that you can step across is now 45 feet wide - Pimmit Run, the creek that runs next to the George H. W. Bush Center for National Intelligence:
Muddog Gus says "Where'd my walkin' trail go?"
It looks like most of the show is over here. The power is still on! That's better than average for a thunderstorm around here!
Cheers, RickG

Hanna started to make her presence known here this afternoon - heavy rain and a bit breezy. The air has had a warm muggy tropical feel to it all day long (don't mind that part). She's supposed to pick up overnight, hopefully not too much....

Make yourselves Hurricanes to get you through it...
http://www.patobriens.com/howtohurricane.html
Or you can try this recipe:
1.5 ounces light rum
1.5 ounces dark rum
1 ounce orange juice
1 ounce fresh lime juice (NOT Rose's or RealLime)
1/4 cup passion fruit juice, or 1 tablespoon passion fruit syrup
1 teaspoon superfine sugar
1 teaspoon grenadine
Cherries with stems, and orange slice to garnish
Ice cubes
In a cocktail shaker, mix the rum, passion fruit juice or syrup, the other juices and the sugar until sugar is dissolved. Add the grenadine, and stir to combine, then add ice and shake. Half-fill a hurricane glass with ice, then strain drink into glass; add ice to fill. Garnish with orange slice and cherries.
There are other variations on the net also.
Drink up and have a Hurricane Party!

Rick-I know you can't do it, but we could sure use some of that rain down here. We are very dry. Had a little bit on Friday, but still need some long, slow drenching rains.

Hanna was pretty much a non event here, not even alot of rain, and practically no wind. Our thoughts are with those in Ike's path.

Got rid of the carpet in the basement and put in tile, got the new and larger sump pump and got the natural gas powered emergency generator. Let it pour.
