Hey Flip Flop

I'm sure we'll snorkel into each other :)

I'll wave to you from my deck as I can see your villa from our house - I'll signal when the "knickers off" margeritas are ready :)

We always "name" our vacations....sounds goofy, I know, but one of them was named "No Agenda, Mon" ! ONLY WAY TO GO!!!! Escape from planning, schedules, deadlines, who needs 'em on St John??? By the way, last year's was named "Just Add Rum" !!!!

Have a great trip!

We were just talking last night ... no plans this year just the plane, condo and vitara reserved and everything else will just happen!

Maybe the reef bay trail ... but only if I can take the boat back. And we want to be on the beach at sunset probably Maho (so we can run from the bugs)

RELAX & ENJOY !!!

No need to plan we do that enough in our regular lives. Live dangerous pack 20 pairs of flip flops and a couple bathing suits and hit a beach or two a day and relax. If ya can't pull away from the Villa for the day enjoy just doin nothin but being with the family in such a wonderful place. Your on vacation just go with the flow thats what we do and believe me my honey is a planner in our regular lives.

So far 4 suits but only 2 pairs of flip-flops in the bag. I am making progress. I think we'll do two normal sized checked bags and one carry-on. For 2 adults and 2 kids this will be a record! FOR US.

I for one am very impressed, flip-flop, especially since you have small kids. We'll have 3 checked bags for 3 people, but only one has clothes. The others are mostly food (one Polar Bear cooler w/meat, one small bag w/non-perishables, sunscreen, bug spray, etc.). Carry-ons are snorkel equipment and small bag with changes of clothes, PJs, swimsuits, and essentials in case our luggage goes astray. I know, I know, we should just take the carry-on with the basics and be done with it--I'm incorrigible!

I am really really trying to cut down on shoes/sandals, but it ain't easy....

Next: convincing my husband he doesn't need an entire library of books (English teacher).

4 days and counting!

Well to be completely honest --- I have to add my husband's kelty backpack which is pretty big will be carried on as well. AND I shipped a box ahead with diapers, swim diapers, wipes, sunscreen, floatation devices and a toy for each of the kids. All stuff that will be used or will be left behind.

Still for the woman who took 3 HUGE checked-bags and 2 smaller rolling bags just last November this is serious progress.

I applaud you, even with the box sent ahead! I am a former overpacker trying to take baby steps towards getting down to the basics only. But I couldn't resist trying the cooler this time, after all the talk about Polar Bear coolers and Techni-Ice!

Flip-flop:

Plans, schedules and agendas are needed to get by in everyday life. You're on VACAY! Enjoy, go with the flow. The last thing you need is anxiety over a "St. John Plan". Please drink a Painkiller for me (or two or three!) :D

Cheers,
Christine

Now I have to start a master plan so I can add:

Tuesday 3pm - Drink 3 painkillers in honor of NoTanLines :)

It is quite freeing. I have a loose schedule. Hubby really wants a night dive and to look at watches in STT (boo as I could do w/o STT excusion altogether - I might send him during nap time) and I would like to take the ferry to Jost if I can swing it. We'll see...other wise we are free and breezy.

Flip Flop, have an amazing vacation! Tell hubby to watch shop on St. John. My husband is watch addicted and he always finds what he needs in Mongoose (Jewels) for a great price (remember to negotiate).

Sailorgirl, my husband has the Reef's with the bottle opener. You can buy them wherever Reef's are sold. I've seen them at Big Planet (I think that's the name) in Mongoose and at the Jolly Dog in Skinny's. Kind of gross if you ask me but when you're in a pinch, the alcohol will kill the germs from the bottle of the flip flop :)
