-dry undies so I can dump the suit if we are going to lunch out after ... I hate the wet butt feeling

I laugh at this because I always think that I chould do this and I NEVER do and then I am miserable in a wet suit!

I'm kinda laughing here because we have never spent a day at a beach on St John. We're villa people during the heat of the day and then snorkelers in the afternoon.

I show up at a beach in my ratty snorkel shirt, do-rag for my poor balding head, snorkel and mask and a 1/2 liter bottle of water to rinse away "snorkel mouth". I often don't even bring a towel.

Hand the shirt on a mangrove...shake like a dog when I leave the water...hop in the jeep and go back to the villa for a hose-off and beer.

pipanale - we are the same way - we rarely hang out on the beach. It's all about the snorkeling for us so we don't bring much other than our snorkel gear and one towel to share between the two of us.

When we are through snorkeling, it's either on to the next snorkel spot, to lunch or back to the villa.

Occasionally, if we are with a group and I am done snorkeling but the others want to continue, I just hang out in the water by the beach till they return.

I've never been a big "sit on the beach" person. Of course, I'm also out of my mind and don't know how to relax. Relaxing for me is snorkeling, trying to get lost in the Jeep, cooking lunch or dinner for the group, making people crazy because I can't sit still etc...

I'm always just beginning to get into the vibe when it's time to pack up and go home. I think I need about a month in the islands to really relax! I think it'll be different on our next trip though! :D
