I agree with liamsaunt...For the past 20 years or so, my family (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc, led by Gram, who unfortunately passed 6 years ago - about 20 of us) have been vacationing in West Dennis (on the Cape). Some of my best memories are from those two weeks in July that we spent with family on the Cape.
My wife and I got married 5 years ago, and decided to go to St. John for the honeymoon (neither of us had ever been to the Carib before). As soon as we got there, we knew it was a place we wanted all our friends and family to see. After the honeymoon that year in July, we decided to drive out to the Cape to catch the last couple of days of our family's vacation...We took one look at the water that both of us had grown up in (she is from Falmouth), and didn't step more than a toe in that black, murky, FREEZING COLD water. It's tough because you feel like a snob - but like they say, when you've eaten Filet Mignon, it's tough to go back to Ground Chuck...
Now, I only mean that in terms of the water...The Cape to me is still a beautiful place, but it was always more about the people (family), than the place. So, this July my cousin will miss her first Cape vacation as she'll be joining us on St. John. Can't wait to see her reaction!
Ok...enough life story!
We'll be making our 5th visit in 5 years this July (and 2nd visit in 8 months - we were there in Dec for 10 days), and have brought the in-laws, my wife's aunt and uncle, and now my cousin.
Bottom line, you can't beat the water on St. John!
