Mary Beth - There are beachfront rooms at Caneel on Hawknest. It gets great morning sun and the snorkeling is good at both ends (at least it was the time we were there).
So this is different then just plain Hawksnest?

Yes, it is a different beach. Caneel Hawksnest is the beach you can see from the water to the left when you are snorkeling at the regular Hawksnest. If you kind of squint you can see the loungers on the beach.
Please note, too, that as far as the beaches at Caneel go, I was simply quoting the official hotel policy. I really don't care what other people choose to do as far as following it, and I assure you that I don't waste any of my valuable vacation time assessing others on the beach to see if they "belong" and reporting them to security if they don't pass muster.

Oh yeah? I heard that you were made offical deputy of beach security in charge of sniffing out any of us riff raff AND any lame food being served within a 5 mile radius.

Hey Liamsaunt,
Great trip reports and I really like your photo's. One of your turtle shots looked like a painting, very cool! I think I saw a few ideas if anyone out there was thinking about getting a tattoo

Great pic of all the turtles and the octupus. You are very lucky campers. I have yet to see one on St John and I snorkel alot.

Liamsaunt - I am eally enjoying your report - I envy your foodie abilities and half the time I don't even know what you're talking about but it all looks so good!
Great snorkeling shots and that octopus! What a great sighting - I think I've seen one hiding once.....!! Thanks for sharing those.
As for Budman - I am not getting into that tattoo conversation again!!

(but, mine will be done next week!)
