So, what is it that's specifically wrong with Tevas? My current set has done eight trips to STJ plus a lot of other trips (Jazz Fest!) While not real spiffy, they have not failed me and are the height of function. My daughters outgrow their's before they wear them out.

Is there something about toes I'm just not cool enough to know?

RickG ... Try FFX County District Supervisor... There should be at least one opening coming up after someone runs for Chairman (if Connolly wins the 11th Dist. Congressional seat). Just depends on which way the Dominos fall. Who knows?

Tevas are all right, but they don't dry as quickly as the Keens (IMHO). Plus when walking you get get those nasty rocks in between your foot and the sole. This is especially bad if you drag your toes like me down the trail to salt pond!!

They don't have as much protection as Keens, but they have more support than regular flip flops.

I did NOT need to see the link to the Keens Venice 2. I love Keens - in fact, just received a pair in the mail last night. I was happy my husband was otherwise occupied, so I didn't have to hear about my so-called shoe addiction. I probably average one pair of dress/heels per year, but I do love my Keens and such.

I LOVE toes but that is what flip-flops are for dude. If you are getting me out of a pair of those its because my tootsies need protection & traction. I almost lost a toe (not really but it bled like hell) at Maho on my 2nd trip down. If there is something sharp it will find my toes. If I am getting heavy duty shoes, they must have toe protection but otherwise be as light and uncumbersome as possible.

I tried checking out your new kicks, but the link to Zappo's said something like sorry, your cookies are screwed up. (OK I'm paraphrasing.) But it showed me 3 pairs of snow boots! I'm guessing that the "Sorel Snow Minx" are NOT what you're wearing on STJ!

That's what Zappo's came up with for my recently viewed items. (They're ignoring my Keens purchase - how rude!) Much as I'd like to think of myself as a bit of a minx, that's depressing. It's been a long winter and a cold spring.

For future reference, REI puts Keens on sale. Think they just went off sale for something in the $60 range.

This could be dangerous! I'd never looked at Keens because the few pair I'd seen in local stores were "blah" colors and further evidence of the retail industry's opinion that girls with big feet like ugly shoes. The colors on Zappo are great, and if my fellow size 10/11 girls like them, they must look good on elongated feet. Gonna order a pair. . .or two!

I am a long time Keen lover! Never realized that it might have something to do w/ my size tho?! I am tall and wear a size 10 and have Keens in so many colors I would have to go check in the closet to see how many pairs there are. Maybe I have a SLIGHT shoe addiction but without a doubt the single brand I have the most of is Keen's. Like you Flipflop things have a way of finding and hurting my toes, so once I discovered Keens toe guard I was hooked, and no more hurt tootsies! I even bought a pair of their boots last winter. BUT for walking to beaches I find any of the flip flips w/ toe guard protects my big ole toes. I wore a more substantial pair for reef bay trail, but just did Ram head w/ flip flops. Take the plunge, they are worth the $$$. My most recent purchase (Calistoga slide) I tried shoes.com and they accepted the order and then the next day cancelled it, due to insufficient stock...boo...I went back to Zappos and they had them to me the next day. MY husband is also on the Keen bandwagon. It all starts w/ one pair!

You guys make me spend so much money! i just bought a pair of Keens...my first!

Observations after rafting down the Salmon and San Juan: Chacos for all around wear; Crocs for camp wear (and Maho and villa time); and Keens. I have a pair of Teva's that have held up for years of beaches and hiking, so I've been reluctant to get Keens. On our way to Dennis last year Mrs Random was quite cranky about slipping around in her Teva-like Merrils. We went to Jolly Dog and she got a pair of Keens 1/2 price. Keens are life changing.

If the Keen all-terrains are as comfortable as the Keen sneakers, then go for it.

Knowing I'd be doing a lot of walking on our Med cruise last year, I bought a pair on the recommendation of another forum. Cute? You get used to that big round toe

I was the only person in our group who wasn't complaining of tired, achy feet and not a one blister (and I didn't have to break them in).

After reading this thread, I think the Mango Venice H2's belong in my future.
