Pia is correct. Fresh water is very precious on a small island surrounded by salt water. 40 minutes is obscene. All the locals I have talked to say that we are supposed to take very quick showers - just enough to get wet, and shut it off - soap up, turn it back on and rinse off. That's it. If you want to relax in hot water, that's what the hot tubs are for. Sorry if this sounds mean and nasty, but we ARE guests and should do as our hosts do themselves. Their costs are high enough without buying truckloads of water.

Yes, I do iron before I pack and again before I put it on. I never claimed to not be totally obsessive! I have used the rolled clothing packing method, but only when I was sure that there'd be an iron to use at my destination.
I have a travel iron and a travel steamer, but I try not to pack them unless I know I won't have access to an iron.
Two years ago we spent 2 weeks traveling throughout Greece. Every hotel had a sign saying that ironing clothes in the room was "forbidden" due to risk of fire. Ironically, there was an ashtray and matches beside the bed in every hotel room. Suffice to say, I did the "forbidden" in multiple cities in Greece and the Greek Islands!

Sadly, yes / no. At home that is her normal nightly shower time (we have a well). I’ll known she would have a issue when we go to St John however have not told her, now that we are 5 weeks away I guess it’s time
I’ll blame you

Man, this thread has hit a nerve. The idea of anybody, while on STJ, even flushing the john after a pee is thoughtless and selfish, and to run a hot shower for 3 minutes just to get the freakin' wrinkles out of you blouse is nothing short of despicable. It's the way it is on that island. If you can't play by the rules.....oh, never mind. I'll just shut up before I really p-$$ somebody off.
