Vicki - Just a fabulous report. I couldn't stop laughing

I so know what you mean about miraculous cures happen when the Moms want to do something (see my off-topic post about my Mom dancing up a storm in Vegas after having us wheel her around for 3 days

) You are a good woman to take the moms on such a special trip.

Well, we learned all kinds of things about you in this report. The therapudic effects of the Caneel buffet have been known for years. I think it was Sir Francis Drake who wrote about it first when he brought his MIL with him.
I am going to steal the line, "where drinking at 10:00 am isn't just acceptable....it's wrong not to."
Your report made me want to go back again......In fact, I think I'll leave Sunday.

Another fabulous trip report and excellent photos from fabulous Vicki! Thanks so much for sharing.
I checked out your bigger photostream, and your Caneel buffet photos might have convinced me to try this spread next trip, despite my irrational fear of buffets.
It was nice to see you again at the forum gathering. Here's to the next trip!

Vicki-that was a great report...your pics are gorgeous...you must do that for a living or you are very good at your hobby! I just returned from st john after visiting there for the 1st time ...your words describe it better than I ever could...may I say ditto! especially the part about jost, unfortunately I didn't get over to Ivan's the day went by to fast! I'll have to go there next time...I'm hooked! I think I met the same ferry operator...he didn't seem to care that I had my husband traveling with me!

Vickie,
Your pictures are always beautiful! May I ask what camera you take with you? Your trip reports are so much fun to read, you seem to have such a great cut and dry sense of humor and you are so much fun to read! I look forward to your Sunnyledge reports each time you come back. Do you miss not having a pool? I know you are so close to Francis, so probably not. We'ved stayed at Maho for the past 3 years. This year in July, 2 weeks at Orion's Hill (Kirk's recent adventure!). I adore the area that you are in and always long for Maho and Francis. The chicken story is precious! My in-laws are 83 and 87....they wouldn't quite understand either the concept of "who do these chickens belong to and why are they running around unsupervised?" Kudos to you for taking both moms.....from my experience, one mom's fairly high maintenance but two....a great undertaking! I know they appreciated their big adventure with you. Ten return trips to STJ - you go, GIRL!!!!!

Well worth the wait for your fabulous report!
Thanks for sharing it all - the good, the not so good, the infirmed, and the fowl!
When I can't be on STJ, I can always hope that you are, because reading your accounts are the next best thing.

I should know to answer the camera question in advance by now! The camera: Canon Digital Rebel Xti with a standard 18 - 55 lens as well as a Canon EF-S 10-22mm USM ultra wide angle lens and a Canon Zoom Telephoto EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS lens. I am entirely unworthy of either lens, as a real photographer like Ken or JMQ can tell you, but I enjoy playing with them. The wide angle is my favorite, but I just don't know how to use it properly yet. JMQ keeps trying to give me tips, but I am too lazy or too stupid to let it sink in. I am going to go with too lazy. Yeah, lazy. That's it.
The underwater shots are just with a Casio Exilim in an underwater housing.

Great report and photos. You tell such a good story.
I recently got the Canon EF-S 10-22mm and have been playing with it a bit. I'll be happy when my pics come out as half as good as yours.
thanks for sharing,

Girl, you are a HOOT! It's not often I laugh out loud when reading reports. Glad I met you and maybe our paths will cross again in the future. Did Jo ever decide which leg was painful

Vicki....awesome report & pics!! I read every word/looked at every pic. You summed up my time there better than I could have (except the "Moms" part).
Great job!!!
