Ha!!

Talk to Charlie about a small trailer. IMO easier to get things in and out of then hauling stuff onto the roof of the car. It will decrease your gas mileage some, but still better than two cars. It will give you alot of room for the camping stuff.

we're off to Maine on 6/30 and I can't wait. Its my second favorite place in the world

If you happen to be anywhere near Kentucky, I'll give you ours. I don't think we'll be using it again.

I know I'm late to the party here, but we bought a soft-sided one when we drove to NC during our move. I had considered the space factor for storage. It smushes down to about the size of a shopping bag. It holds some ridiculous volume of crap. Plus, it forms to the shape of what you're putting in it.

Ours fits on the roof of my wife's Ford Focus.

we haven't done anything yet but space surely a factor for us. I saw a soft sided one on the REI website that we might consider. Thanks for the info.

Just remember to face the zippers to the back of the car. If it starts raining, you'll know why!
