I shipped myself two boxes to Connections via usps priority with delivery confirmation for the upcoming trip. I mailed them at 7 PM Thursday evening. One arrived the next Monday morning, and the other Tuesday. I was surprised by how fast they got there!

I did ship shampoo and stuff like that. Plus my snorkel fins and lots of books!

The only thing I will bring back with me are the fins. The food will be eaten, the sunscreen will be applied, and I'll donate the books. I'm just going to put the fins into my empty polar bear cooler for the trip home.

Has anyone had any problems with customs charges because of the shipping? We have a PO box at a UPS store for our business and I inquired with the owners about shipping to STJ. They said the cost was exorbitant (sounds like the good old USPS is the better option) and on a recent shipping, the couple who shipped ahead got hit with $200 in customs charges. They had sent ahead items for their wedding- bridesmaids gifts, favors etc.

I would consider shipping sunscreen, shampoo etc. What is the cost of these items in STJ? If it was only a matter of $5 or so more than here, I would just buy there.

We had to fork over $28 for sunscreen in Punta Cana in February. That hurt...

There shouldn't be a coustoms charge to ship things from the us to the usvi because everything here has already had the duty's applied. if you can the flat rate boxes are the way to go it is the same amount for what ever you put into them.
