We felt tremors in Cincinnati this morning from this quake. Enough movement that I realized that it was an earthquake. Not enough that it kept me from going back to sleep. Hubby never woke from his beauty sleep.

Here we are worried about everyone in the VI, and we have a 5.4 about 50-60 miles from us. There are reports now of a brick facade falling from a building in downtown Louisville.

I just spoke to my daughter who said the shaking woke her up, and believe me, that takes some doing.

Ky. residents jolted by Ill. quake
The Associated Press

HENDERSON, Ky. --There were no immediate reports of injuries or serious damage in Kentucky following an earthquake centered in eastern Illinois.

Kentucky State Police dispatcher Natalie Alsip at the post in Henderson, just across the Ohio River from Evansville, Ind., said telephone calls poured in to the post following the quake early Friday and one man reported cracked plaster at his home.

A dispatcher at the KSP post in Mayfield said there were many phone calls from western Kentucky locations, but no indication of injury or serious damage.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports the 5.4 magnitude quake was centered near the Illinois-Indiana border, about 6 miles east-southeast of New Salem, Illinois, at 4:35 a.m., CDT.

It rattled the house pretty good but no damage to report here. Except some lost sleep!

Yep - I felt it too around 4:30 this morning in Madison, WI. My liitle dog sleeps in bed with me and he ocassionally has seizures - I thought that was it until I heard the windows shaking and felt him - he was sound asleep.

I just read this thread yesterday and this morning I thought to myself - well, we must be having an earthquake - sure enough, it was!

What a week we have had!

Near flood, fire, earthquake, and a sick Yorkie.

Our son1 that lives near us got water in his basement rec.room. Had to toss all the carpet and padding. That was Saturday.

My 87 yr old Mom had a fire on Tues PM. A magnifying glass set her recliner on fire. She called 911 and got out, but the den is gutted. Smoke and water damage through the whole house.

Our 11 yr old 4 pound Yorkie has been pretty sick since Wednesday.

We are staying in a hotel in STL with my Mom until her house is habitable, and this morning we were awakened by some pretty severe shaking. We are on the 4th floor.

OK, we are ready for things to settle down a little. :!:

Verjoy, sounds like you need to take a vacation. Glad your Moms ok. Hope your puppy gets well soon.

People felt that quake up here in Michigan. I felt the one we had in 1986. I thought it was my kitty kat scratching an itch leaning on the leg of the table. Kinda weird having quakes up here.

Thanks for the sympathy! Our STJ vacation soon come.

Mom is doing great considering she has been displaced from her home of 51 yrs.

The Yorkie is better also. We will probably leave her at the vet's while we are on STJ, just to be sure.
