Thanks for the photo link. What IS that snake thing?? I've never seen anything like that before!

It's not a snake, there are no sea snakes in the Caribbean. This is an eel, that is named Snake Eel. Or maybe Spotted Snake Eel.

Thanks for the report! I share your love of Maho. We went twice when we were there for the first time last October, and I happily would have gone another time or two. It is so beautiful and relaxing there!

We stayed in Coral Bay when we were there, and we loved it. It seemed to be a lot more quiet, but let's face it... it's all wonderful!

Thanks Maggy! I looked up eels in my Humann guide last night, and discovered that this eel is known as a goldenspotted snake eel. Cool! Something else to hunt for while I am snorkeling.
