Yeah! Terry called me back and I booked the Honeymoon Cottage. A little more than I wanted to spend, but the location, privacy, and views seem worth it-in addition to Terry being wonderful. Thanks so much for your help. You knew just what I was looking for. Laura

I'm undecided again-Honeymoon Cottage cost a bit more than I thought it would-$375/night and I've read reports that it is rustic with barking dogs nearby...ugh. not sure if "sunny" enough. I know I'm being anal but this is a lot of money/precious vacation time for us.

Turtlegirl - I just checked out Honeymoon Cottage on the web, and if you call that rustic, then you have a completely different idea of rustic than I do. It looks beautiful to me and it sounds like it's in a dream location and it'll be convenient to everything - Coral Bay, Cruz Bay, North Shore beaches, the Smoothie Truck (very important! 
). I would be concerned about a barking dog, so maybe someone can answer that, but the rest looks fantastic to me! Don't worry, be happy!

I have to laugh when people talk about Cruz Bay being "crowded" and difficult to get through. Reminds me of the complaints that more than a dozen people on a beach makes it crowded.
Sure, it slows you down a bit, but if you live in any American town of more than 10,000 people you'll think going through the area is a breeze. And it's fun to see the people and the businesses. The Cruz Bay area has more to offer than Coral Bay, but there are wonderful places to stay all over the island. Personally, I wanted to be on the south side of the island for the convenience to restaurants and the views, but the Coral Bay villas also have amazing views. Don't limit yourself, find a villa you love and I'm sure you'll love it whichever side you choose.

We decided upon Caneel Trailside Cottage. Thanks for all your help. It was invaluable. Little things like sun exposure, construction noise, pool vs. hot tub, etc., are actually huge and not something you think of off the top of your head. The cottage has everything we were looking for in terms of location and amenities and I like renting directly from the owner rather then thru an agency. As first timers, I decided against Coral Bay, but will definitely explore the ENTIRE island while we're there. I promise a trip report upon our return but we're not going til January 09 so I'm sure I'll have lots more questions before that. I've already gleaned great info. such as where to print boarding passes, jeep rentals, ferry schedules, etc. On to restaurants and food markets! Thanks again
