We're booked for August using Delta FF miles. RDU-ATL-STT. So...our cost was nothing. Our friends from NJ have had a different flight every time based on price. In '04, I booked them way out on AA through SJU. In '06 it was best to go through ATL (where they met us). I got those tickets for them for only about $300.

This year, I got them a non-stop from EWR for only $350. Booked it in October for next August. I could likely have gotten it a little cheaper, but the though of N/S flight had them perky with excitement.

Bottom line...they tell me what they want to spend (as a max) and then as soon as I find something under it, I book.
Of course, as of now, our stupid Delta flight lands on STT at alomst 4:00. We're not getting to STJ any time before 6:00 as I see it. That's why we're staying an extra night at the end of the trip. Hello Frenchman's Reef. Where's my friggin Platinum upgrade?!

Last year when I was traveling in October, one Sunday night I was looking on Delta's web site and found direct from ATL to STT (Sunday-Sunday travel) for $198/roundtrip, which was about $250 after fees.

By the time I asked my friend in Atlanta if I could borrow his couch that weekend to get that amazing price, it was sold out and went back to $400, which is what I could pay to fly from BNA with a connection in ATL. I'll drive 4 1/2 hours to save $200 on a flight (and see my best friend, of course!).

Those low fares are like Bigfoot sightings...gotta get 'em when you see 'em, and worry about everything else afterwards, otherwise they disappear.

Anyone here use FareCompare? They give you a heads up when airfares are about to change usually a couple hours before the travel websites (Orbitz, etc.) get them.

well, We're booked on American for June. Stop over in San Juan from Philly, but at least we don't have to change planes! I get very nervous abut leaving Philly late ( always) and not making a connection!!! Way home doesn't matter as much. the good news is that we had enough miles on american credit card for 1 free round trip. and then another on Orbitz Credit card!!! Yay!!! so only had to pay for 2.

I booked our tickets last weekend on American from Boston, round trip for $227 for a late April into mid-May trip. Supposedly (note the supposedly) it is a non-stop flight on the way down. I am fully expecting to get shunted onto another itinerary for the price I got. On the way back we are going through San Juan.

I think it was just luck that we happened to be surfing for airfare when we were. I got a low-fare alert from Travelocity the next morning for that price, but usually by the time I get their alerts all the seats are gone.
