1. What is the bed configuration (what sizes in what room)?

2. Is it "no tan lines private"?

3. What is the phone number of the person on-island to contact 24/7?

4. Is there a coffee grinder, or should I buy preground?

5. What's the sun exposure on the deck like?

6. How are the breezes? Will I be comfortable without AC?

7. How old are the pictures on the website? Can you email me a floor plan and recent pictures?

8. Are there beach chairs and coolers for our use? How many?

9. Is there a safe? Where is it? (If it's in one of the bedrooms, then be aware if you've got another adult couple in the other bedroom they're going to need to come in to get their stuff out.)

10. Is there a hair dryer?

11. Is there an answering machine? (If you're leaving the kids behind, this can be a peace of mind issue as cell service can be spotty when you're out and about.)

Is there any dampness in the house? Mustiness, etc.

For people with respiratory problems, can make all the difference.

I ask if the windows and doors have screens and if so...are they are in good shape?
It is also important for me to know if they have a routine extermination schedule.
Ceiling fans on the decks are a big plus too.
We stayed at a villa which was perfect in every way...except for the water pressure, so I now ask about that...mia

Is there construction nearby? How close? How does it affect the villa in terms of noise, dust, and traffic?

It's so true about leaving stuff for the next guest. We were at Le Virage the week before Pickle and I left her a large bag with all kinds of stuff that I was not going to take back. I attached a note to the bag that it was for the next guests and please do not take. Did Pickle get it?, no, she found nothing left for her. I am not even sure if the rental companies realize that stuff is being taken. I did leave milk, cheese etc in the frig and I had no problem if the cleaning people took that, but the bag specifically said it was for the next renters. Well, I knew I was taking a chance when I did it!
