I thought we were talking about a Grand Vitarra. Is there a difference between the Vitarra and a grand vitarra?

Ok, I just called St John Car Rental and the Jeep Wrangler was $70 cheaper than the Grand Vitarra per week. Sounds like it would be more fun to drive and would be better off road. Think I may go with the Jeep.

Here is my two cents. We rented a two-door Vitara (not a Grand Vitara) from Courtesy Car Rental for two of us and it was just what we needed. We never had any problems not having enough 'juice' to get us up the steep hills and the 4WD worked well when needed. When the roads were slick from the rain and for the dirt/gravel roads (i.e. the road to Lamshur) the 4wd worked well and the Vitara handled just fine. We put the back seats down and had plenty of room for our luggage and it was easy to just throw in our cooler, chairs, snorkel gear, etc. for the beach each day. When we return we'll rent a Vitara again.

Enjoy your trip!

cub- I was wondering if the people on the forum were talking about a vitarra or grand vittara. Now I know that there is two types a 2 door and a 4 door. Thanks for your two cents it was worth more than a couple of pennies to me!

No worries Naturegirl - I was wondering about the Grand Vitara myself and whether or not it had enough "juice".

Our "poor car" was a 2-door Vitara (not Grand) that had seen better days. It wasn't too bad carrying the two of us, but had a bit of trouble when we crammed 4 adults in it.

When renting 4WD's we usually go with the Jeep Liberty. We have one here at home and in the mountains of utah, my Jeep is like the little goat that could! It actually goes better than my Grand Cherokee did!

I always want to try the Wrangler but there is no freaking luggage space in back. When you are traveling with 4 peeps, that's a problem. The Liberty's size is also good for STJ's roads.
