Hey Joann,
Thanks.
I think, like just about everyone here, I'm pretty much always looking and thinking about the next one.
I tend to avoid the high season because of the rates, so I'm debating getting one more in before mid-December (my husband's Dec. 13th birthday is a good excuse) or planning for next April/May/June.
Decisions, decisions.
I also have to figure out if this would be a just us trip, or friends, or family.
We've got 2 very cool nephews who are 17 and 18 that I'd love to take, and getting our parents down there would make us both very happy.
Of course you can't pick a villa very well until you know how many may be going.
To add a twist to my decision dilemma, I just saw airfare from Richmond for $360 during August/early September.
I know it's a risk with the weather, but catching a last minute villa special looks awfully tempting.

Angelica is a well-priced villa because it basically has no water views. We thought about renting it a couple years ago but were told by CV that views of the water are pretty much non-existent.
We stayed at Blue Aweigh this June and at Casa Blanca three years ago...let me know if anyone wants any more info on either of those places.

We have looked at both of these villas. Would love to have your "take" on them...Our biggest concern is the A/C and hopefully bug free inside. Would love to know the good and bad on both of these..Thanks. so much..

This rental company has several decent looking properties in the $1500-$1600 price range,
though most of them have a hot tub or dipping pool. The next jump up in price seems to happen when there is a pool.

Teresa_Rae,
I would like your opinion of Blue Aweigh.Does it seem private enough? Easy to get to? Nice owners?
I read on another forum that the cottage is attatched to the owners house next door and the pool/jacuzzi is at their back door??
Thanks for any info.

Lynwood & Debbie-
Casa Blanca- When we stayed there three years ago it was pretty run-down. All it really needed was some cosmetic work and it'd be a really nice place to stay. We didn't regret staying there, but unless they improved it on the inside we probably wouldn't stay there again. It was dingy, which made it feel like it wasn't clean. The cabinets in the kitchen were in pretty bad shape, and the shower was so filthy that the first day I bought cleaning products at Starfish to clean it. The pool is nice, and the Genip tree hanging over the deck area is great! If they made some improvements on the inside we'd probably stay there again eventually. The kitchen is pretty small, as is the main room. It was fairly bug free, but it might need new windows and/or front door to really keep out the bugs. It's walking distance to ZoZo's.
Blue Aweigh- I personally LOVED Blue Aweigh, but my husband wasn't as big of a fan because of the lack of privacy there. You are correct...it is a cottage adjacent to the owners' house...and the owners' computer room, front door, and kitchen look right out onto the deck area with the pool and hot tub. This didn't bother me at all, but my husband felt kind of weird hanging out by the pool when they were cooking dinner or sitting at their computer. The main living area of the cottage can't really be closed off either, so the only place that you can have complete privacy is in the bedroom. I don't like to walk around in the nude or anything (neither does my husband), so the lack of privacy didn't bother me one bit...but like I said, my husband felt like he was intruding on the owners' personal space with them being so close by all the time. That said, the inside of the cottage itself is the best place we've ever stayed...it was very clean inside and free of bugs...and the a/c worked very well. The owners, Eric and Paula are great, too.
Hope this helps!

Teresa_Rae,
Thank you for the reviews! Now in your review of Blue Aweigh you say that the main living area can't really be closed off. What do you mean by that? Can the owners see you sitting in your living room?
Everything else about the cottage sounds great.I don't think it would bother me to have the owners close by either.I figure if there's a problem they would be right there to fix it.
It sounds wonderful.
Thanks.

Hi Debbie-
The main level of the owner's house as well as the deck/hot tub/pool are all on one level...then you go down maybe 8 deck stairs to another deck which is where the entrance to Blue Aweigh is located. When you go through the door, you enter into the main room/dining room/kitchen; there is a bay window, front door with a window in it, and a kitchen window that don't have privacy curtains (there is one other kitchen window on the cliff side that doesn't need curtains and there are sliding doors to a deck off the main room that do have privacy curtains). Since you are on a lower level than the owners, they don't have a direct view into the main living area, but they'd certainly be able to see in if they tried...not that they would try though! They were great and gave us privacy and left us alone.
