I can't believe it when I came upon this post.

We rented a Villa in St. Thomas in May and I don't want to post the name of it because the owner is trying to make good. He's putting 150,000 + into, it also was for sale (no more) and we also had some of the same problems that you had.

If anybody wants a list of what was wrong with this villa I will send it to you, but it was a nightmare.

The good part of the story is that I received an email today from the Villa owner and he said that he wants to make things right for us, he fired the management company and he also wants us to have an input on renaming it.

I truly trust this person now and I understand that alot of villa owners pay for a mangement company to be their eyes, ears (and even noses) when they can't be there. Unfortunately, these owners pay high fees for this service and they get nothing in return.

So sorry you had to deal with it. I know how you feel because I've been there.

But I have to be honest and say that I will probably look to another rental company to rent from for our next visit.
I'm tired of being nickel and dimed by CV.

I can just hear Flip Flop now saying "Hallelujah!"
I dont know how I missed this post ... but she's right Hallelujah!

Yep. It was for sale for $2.5 mil when we stayed there.
A realtor showed it one day and the people left quickly after going downstairs and asking us about the standing water.

Hi Everyone,
Myself and my family stayed in Sibella the week before
2catlimit. We had all the problems she described. We also will be recieving reimbursment from Caribbean Villas in the amount of 20%.

I feel the compensation was warranted and fair. I am happy with the fact Caribbean Villas no longer offers the property. To me it shows real follow up on the their part. However our problems extended beyond the villa itself. CV was late picking us up at the ferry. They failed to disclose the property did not have a phone nor a safe and they failed to contact my travel agent who was on island at the very same time I was even though they promised they would. All in all I was disappointed with the service while on St. John but feel the follow up after our return would allow us to try them again. By the way, we have rented from CV in the past and had no problems on those occassions.
