I bought a pair of Keens for our last STJ trip and they are great. After a sprained ankle, my Keens were the only shoes I could wear for weeks.

They have to be fairly comfy since almost all of the nurses I work with love them. I haven't worn any, but several family members and then the medical staff at the hospital think they are wonderful. Most admit they hate the way they look, but they wear them for the comfort!

Used to Hate the way they looked, now I only midly think they look funny (and a little ugly) but LOVE them for on STJ and wear them all the time - great for the beach, great for the boat, great for those island showers, great for the garden etc, etc.

And as I also have back problems - bone on bone in my lower back (thinking about cutting the nerves but that's another story

) and a disk disorder in my neck and a spine in the neck region that is curving the wrong way, love the way they lessen the impact of walking and even such simple things as standing on a tile floor while ironing (yep still do that on STJ

)

Ok, I HATE to admit it but I love my Crocs. They are just ugly - I know. But...they are super comfy (I have feet problems) and they are totally useful. I actually bought a pair for my kids and got hooked myself. Even my hubby has broken down and bought a pair. He loves them as well. We usually do not wear them in public (we are closet Croc-ers) but we took them to STJ in April and lived in them. They were great for the beach, the water, etc. I even found some pirate jibitz (the little decorations for them) on STJ so now I even like the way they look

Most people who hate them, never wore them. My husband always says "they ain't much for looks but they sure are functionable!".

I test drove a friends pair for a day and I could not understand the hoopla. I guess they were comfortable but I just can not justify wearing something so ugly (in my opinion)
My friend is a nurse and she says she would not work without them, so I am sure that they work for some, just not me.

Thanks guys & gals ... lovers and haters alike. I am thinking for a $30 investment I might give 'em a try. Between my back issues & the convenience on the beach (never really thought of that factor), seems worth it. God knows I have spent that $30 a hundred times over on flip-flops!

They are cheaper than days off work and prescription meds :O

HATE-- only kids & people in the medical profession (docs & nurses) oh & gardners should wear them.

Down here in Baton Rouge they even have purple & gold LSU crocs--look awful. I support the team but wouldnt be caught dead in them.

LSU Beach Tiger - I had to laugh - you gotta know that in Baton Rouge EVERYTHING is purple and gold! We have those crocs in New Orleans too - don't own any (LSU crocs) but see them at the stores.

p.s. I have a pair for wet mornings taking the dog out or wet mornings going to get my coffee. Other than that I wear my flip flops or Keens.

I tried on a pair of crocs yesterday and they are just too wide for my feet. They did feel comfy. I volunteer in a local hospital and we are not allowed to wear sandals but all the nurses seem to wear their crocs and love them. Thought I would buy a pair but they slipped right off my feet. I do like my Clarks springers. Think that my fit flops will be great for the beach and they are super comfy.
Love the little kids in their decorated crocs! I would buy a pair of crocs if I could get a pair that fit.

I live in the birth state of Crocs so the "craze" started here about two years ago. I always thought they were ugly (I think everyone does) but I gotta say, they are functional for most people. I've used them on the boat and canoeing and they are really great around the water.

Nonetheless, being that the craze sort of started here, I already see a decline so no worries, Croc haters, they'll be less prevalent soon.

Well I'm in the minority who doesn't hate them at all! My kids have had theirs for almost 2 years and wear them every day... and I mean every day. (Yep, in the winter they'd walk to school in snow boots, and then change into their Crocs once inside.) I'd love to get them to wear something different, but the Crocs are just so easy and comfortable.

I have a pair too, but they look like clown shoes on me so I don't wear them very often. (But they're great for the pool, and incredibly comfortable.) I don't think the fake ones are as comfortable -- some of the ones I've seen seem harder/less flexible.

I'm a huge fan of Keens. I wear those all the time -- hiking, biking, reffing soccer games, just hanging out (casually.) Everyone in my family will get a new pair before we go to STJ, because they're great for outdoor activities. Plus you can rinse them out at night and they dry by the morning.

I am not going to answer as I am the girl that will wear something entirely uncomfortable and impractical if it looks good.....

That said, if it's medically prescribed...Go for it.
